  1. 6- Gawn 5- Hunt 4- Harmes 3- Hore 2 - Oliver 1 - OMac
  2. Massively disappointing to be the better side for most of the night & let a 19 point lead slip but you can not question the endeavour & effort by the side tonight. Grossly undermanned & backs against the wall, no ones mentioned the 6 day break & double travel which is a joke, I don't think any side would have 2 trips back to back let alone on a 6 day break... Proud of the effort just disappointed we didn't get reward
  3. Olivers [censored] handballs can f%%# off
  4. You didn’t blame but gestured if we don’t win it’s because Goodwin isn’t a great coach like the names mentioned, he is 50 odd games into he’s senior coaching career. I am almost certain there would be multiple games that those 3 great coaches have lost over the journey when they were severely undermanned. My point was that Goodwin shouldn’t be herald a hero if we win or a bum if we lose because the great Norm Smith would struggle to coach tonight’s side to a win
  5. You are talking 3 of the greatest of all time here. Goodwin is in his 3rd year, if we lose tonight it is not on Goodwin. He can only do so much with what we have to work with. Our injury list is as big as anyone in the league, a lot of sides would struggle in Perth with the key personnel we are missing. Richmond did it against Port earlier in the year but still had a host of premiership players. I think it’s poor to be lumping tonight’s performance on Goodwin (win or loss). It will be a serious struggle tonight, if we could have even kept the side from last week then I’d say we’d have a sneaky chance with the loss of Lewis, Hibberd & Melksham on top of what we have it would be one of the greatest Melbourne wins of all time. Unfortunately I think this has the Prelim result written all over it
  6. Always tough these games, win & it’s “oh only GC”. Lose and it’s “how bad losing to GC” We simply must just bank the 4 points to keep the season alive, try keep building on 2 wins a row and keep this season alive. A loss and it’s curtains obviously
  7. Not confident at all this week. I have a feeling this is a Sydney false dawn all over again. Suns have been pretty good most of the year, matched it with West Coast over there after QRT time. Going to be a real tough game, probably good to play a side like GC because we lose this we know we are definitely not up to it this year.
  8. Going into last week I was confident of a win & saw we had GC the following week. If we can pull the ledger back to 3-5. WC, GWS, ADEL, COLL to follow. If we can get to 5-7 at the bye. We'd have to go 7-3 in the last 10 to be any chance. Highly unlikely. We all had this conversations post sydney & we saw how that played out.. GC will be no push overs up there this week.
  9. 6 - Harmes (people saying about the 2 50s it’s a crap rule & easy to get pinged on, not like he gave away 2 for mouthing off or undisciplined acts, shut down O’Meara & killed him going the other way, easily BOG) 5 - Gawn 4 - Lockhart 3 - Oliver 2 - Salem 1 - Hibberd
  10. "Play the kids" like we've had 3 first rounds the past 3 years too pluck from the list ?
  11. Yeah normally around late April they send out a unique barcode for each member with 50% off but seems not this year... Not yet anyway
  12. If Frost ran through the midfield on a Cripps or Fyfe they’d have 60 & kick 6. The answer to the original question is Frost is delisted at seasons end. He’s not up to it in defence or forward and certainly isn’t a midfielder . As soon as Lever & May are fit it’s OMac & potentially Petty playing for th 3rd tall if required
  13. Where is the New Balance deal where each member gets a barcode ? Or has that stopped this year too like the players... Usually is 50% off and previous years it has been around this time.
  14. What if we all just accept this year is a write off as disappointing as it is. What if we all stop blaming our coaches & players. There will be some serious egg on face in 12 months.
  15. Go to Darren Burgess with a blank cheque book. Arsenal would be paying him a truckload but a good price & return to Australia could be enough to get him.
  16. I'm not sure if I envy or pitty those who think finals is still a possibility. I checked out half way through the Geelong game, writing was on the wall
  17. Gees everyone is really looking behind every door to find someone to blame. Roos built a game on hard nosed, contested football which stands up in finals. I constantly remember him using Fremantle at their best pre Melbourne of having "big bodied mids of Fye/Mundy/Barlow" which we similarly went down that path with Oliver & Brayshaw. Most premiership sides & final sides are good contested teams which we were last year. As we all know Roos taught us how to defend first before slowly adding in how to attack & defend. We had the right balance towards the end of last year & during the finals we were tougher to score against but could also score heavily. For whatever reason we first lost our defensive mindset & it was costing us, now we've had to focus on defend because we were just bleeding goals so we saw Wednesday night how our attacking & scoring was effected. We wont know without been inside the club what has turned for us to fall away but it could be a combination of the off season surgeries, slight tinker with the game plan, poor player mindset, 6-6-6, sides doing more homework on us, all these little things add up to the perfect storm. Roos left 2 and bit seasons ago, a lot has changed since. He isn't the reason we are in this current state. We will ride this out & I have faith Goodwin & this group will turn it around if not by seasons end then next year
  18. 1998-99 - Upgraded membership to guaranteed grand final tickets 2002-03 - Upgraded membership to guaranteed grand final tickets 2018-19 - Upgraded membership to guaranteed grand final tickets Never upgrading again. Seems if we are to win one I’m not ment to be there
  19. The more I look into & forward the more my mindset changes. As hard as it is, lets get enthused by the challenge facing us, by seeing what Goodwin & this list is made of. Like I said 16 weeks to find ourselves from the boot studder (if they still exist) to the President. Find out who is mentally strong out of this group to take us to the next level, it is just so disappointing because some felt we were right up there with the top contenders but clearly we aren't this year. As hard as it is, we go to the footy for the rest of the year & see how we can evolve & change to get things right for 2020. It hurts because it's "always next year" but this AFL game is a long journey, sometimes one step back to go 10 steps forward could be what we need, we haven't taken a step back since our gradual rise of the ladder from 2014 onwards
  20. Hindsight is a lovely thing but there was something deep inside me during the pre season that was worried. I almost put on a false hope that we would be premiership contenders. What had me worried was the following: - We never really stamped ourselves last year against the better sides, we weren't assured finals until round 22. We played good footy against middle of the road to lower sides than average to poor against the best. - Losing Hogan and having TMac as the focal point, I was big on this. Even though there was no Hogan for large parts of the year & finals it is a huge mental pressure on TMac knowing he's 1 out. - Weideman was never going to be ready to step up, he's played 1 good game so far in his career albeit a final. He may well make it in a few years time but none seriously thought he could kick 40+ goals this year. - We got extremely lucky & faced 2 sides in the finals who were well and truly cooked, Hawthorn & Geelong were average sides last season. Then we got found out against a good side in the Prelim - Sides were always going to find a way to combat our style, I feel as though Goodwin & the coaches stuck their head in the sand & thought "We'll just do us & forget the rest" let's not worry what sides may do to us & how we can combat & almost be a step ahead of the competition. This may partly be due to Goodwins inexperience - I haven't read much into the 6-6-6 but it can't have helped us, we liked to get a 7th defender behind the ball to help our lack of key defenders which has exposed us badly. The extras off the back of the square also was something we'd use to great effect over the past few years. All we can do is hope this is a learning year for the players & Goodwin. He has a blank canvas for 16 weeks for trial & error. See what does & doesn't work, in game & on game day. Get Lever & May back to sure up our defence and get a relatively high draft pick & pick up a good kid. Finish 13th & get a good draw next year & learn from all mistakes made last pre season to hit 2020 running
  21. What were the positive moves ? Any simpleton could coach to stop the bleeding which didn't hold up in the end anyway. Forward line was no existent & ball movement was just bomb away. I think he has a [censored] load to answer for tonight & the other 5 weeks
  22. At least we had the hype of the pre season... Felt nice having an off season thinking we could contend
  23. Game plan has literally just been play not to get smashed... No flow or ball movement at alall
  24. May have gone over the top... Early days with Roos where it was all out defense with a dysfunctional forward line
  25. Effort & intent has been better. Obviously Goody has made some adjustments defensively to stem the flow. Forward line broke down that quarter whilst is looked good in the first, we were lowering the eyes & hitting targets, it was all just bombing that quarter. Feels like the Neeld years, just hanging in there & at some point the opposition will kick away.
