OK this argument needs to be put to bed. Let me preface this by saying that Cameron Bruce would probably be my equal favourite player along with Brock Mclean. I've loved cam since 2000. At the moment, there is something wrong with Cam's kicking. He seems to shank what seems to be a large percentage of his kicks. This is OK in general play, especially as his decision making is probably up there with the best in the team, but it is very noticeable when he is kicking for goal (and this can be very costly not only on the scoreboard but also for morale), as a lot seem to either hook badly or wobble big time. That said this is probably the only flaw in his game, and unlike others it is rectifyable. But it does need to be fixed because it will enable him to become a gun or star of the comp No one should comparing brock to bruce. I think this feeling stems from the looming captaincy battle after DN says he's had enough. So this is a different issue. But the brock vs bruce comparison is futile and pointless. Both would be in the top 5 picked each week, and the team is always better when both are in the team. Brock will be at the bottom of the pack always, and leading from the front and that is why he is loved. Cam on the other hand will run all day, and will plug holes either in defence of attack and will tag, sacrificing his own game for the good of the team, and prior to these yips had the ability to add that touch of 'class'. So yeah he need to fix his kicking, but he is incredibly important for our team, and we will always be a better team when he and brock are playing together.

i didnt happen to notice your thoughts on him last week ... funny that when he plays well people pipe down, but when he shanks a few the vultures are out immediately

he'll play next game, as holland isn't really an option against the pies (richo would murder him). lets hope this game gives him some confidence, although it is ironic that after his biggest ever haul (i think??) he may come back as a defender

that really was a fantastic mark, he was very good in the last 5 minutes

FFS Y-M enjoy the win, enjoy beating the pies, instead of getting in a tizz about bruce's kicking. yes it is shonky and he does need to work on it, but he has been in our top 2 or 3 players all year, and no one can question his commitment to the team.

Regardless of what people think of him personally, he is a great player, and you never like to see great players injured (unless they play for collingwood!) That said i'm glad he isn't playing on monday.

Geez, last week you would have thought that the club was about to keel over and die given the way people were talking about it, now it is 8 game winning streaks that people are talking about. Lets just take it 1 week at a time. I rather we do what Port did last year and show something late in the season to carry on with next year. Losing is not a habit we want our young guys to get into

... Cameron Bruce ...??? I think he qualifies for that list. As for Petterd, this kid is gonna be really good, his adaptability to me seems very good, and he has slotted into AFL no problems at all, despite a slim build. Midfield 6 of Petterd, Brock, Col, Bartram, Bate and Jones in 4 years is something that excites me greatly. Now if we can just get a big bugger to get the ball down to them, and a big bugger for them to kick it to we'd be fine.

I'm just glad godfrey is back to a tagging role, rather than a free wheeling midfield role, where he was utterly useless. as a tagger he is one of our best, but as an offensive winger etc as he has been used in the last few years there are far better options. For me i'd put him on burns or lockyer

Having not even seen the incident i'm confident he'll play. 1) he plays for collingwood 2) they're playing melbourne this week, and everyone who goes up to the tribunal before playing melbourne seems to get off 3) the panel are the most inconsistent bunch of morons running around (after the rule makers that is)

With the injuries we have had there is no way in hell we should be in the top 8. Anyone who believes that we should, is in fairy land. With the comp being so even, you lose 5 of your best 10, you will lose 9 out of 10. That said we should have been more competitive in some of the games, as we should be 4-6 because all of those close games we had a very good chance to win, and a bit of poise and leadership we would have won. As for Bruce, well he would be leader our b&f this year just in front of bell, he has been our best player, so he has 'strung a few games together', and had some of his mates been up and running e.g. the bloke who was licking the pres' face at the brownlow last year, we might just be in a better position.

Just a casual 35+ possessions, and few courageous marks to get the 'soft' tag off his back

Fantastic game by belly. He has been one of the few shining lights this year. He along with green and bruce were the best 3 players on the ground ... funny that, they are the 3 most derided players on this board ...
