Hidden in amongst all the coaching, tanking, list assessments going on this week, we've all forgotten that we still have a game this week! I cant help but think that we are in serious trouble this week against Port. AAMI (Voodoo) Stadium is our worst ground in the league, and we are playing a lot of guys who would have never played there, Port seem to be somewhat resurgent in recent times and of course we are still missing a host of players. The optimist in me says we can go with port for 3 qtrs but get done in the last. The realist in me however says get ready for a 100 point loss. Changes ... If bruce and bell are fit they come back in, with buckley probably to make way for bell, and someone else to be squeezed out for bruce. I'd prefer it to be one of brown, godfrey or ward, but it is highly likely that it wont. The interesting one will be neitz. He's not 100%, and if they do decide to rest him, Dunn would be an obvious choice. In terms of matchups the obvious one is tredrae. Miller has had numerous shocking days over the course of the season, but we dont lose anything by playing him on tredders. Put him there with carroll the backup. There is no point playing holland at this stage of the season given the way we're going. Frawley will get eaten by him, especially as he has come back bigger and stronger since his knee issues. If godfrey plays he should go to cornes (kane), but this may change given the fact that cornes will probably go to one of our boys e.g. brock or bruce if he plays. Chad will probably go to robbo, and will receive 40 touches by running off him. As a result robbo must be hit up to make him accountable. thoughts...

RR, fwiw i never believed he was and agree with you, i was just commenting on the perception that football department seems to have about his 'leadership ability'. specifically in an "On The Coach" interview with ND last year (i think perhaps even 05) he said that davey was a potential future captain.

That leaves, Neitz, Robbo, Miller, PJ, White, Garland, Frawley, Carroll, Bizzell, Dunn and Newton all in the team. we will run out of legs by qtr time. Have to bring in one of Moloney, Green or Bruce in. Just goes to show how moronic Davey's actions were. any thought of leadership group status should be thrown out the door. we're in strife already and then he goes and settles a gripe of his, at the expense of the team. Bruce, McLean, and Macca often get tagged, but they never do such stupid things. hope the club rip into him.

Spot on Rhino. Pickett has shown no respect for the club whatsoever. For his two preseasons he has come back overweight, boozing before a game, and then when we gave him the chance to stand up on the big stage (i.e. Friday night football vs Richmond), he was more content to finger point for others to pick up his man and looked completely disinterested. Don't care if he is stuck on 199 games at all.

i agree with you normally jaded, but miller has no composure whatsoever. he looks like a rabbit in headlights. makes wrong decisions all the time. that said now that rivers is out play him as a KPP back for the rest of the season. leave the forward line to newton, dunn, robbo, bate, sylvia, davey (that will be a kick ass forward line in a few years!)

any fans of the TV show "The Shield" would agree Nathan Jones is Vic Mackie no doubt about it! otherwise i refer to him as the manchild.

if he gets to play alongside neita for a few years watch out, because he'll get the 2nd defender and will rip games apart. i was not fussed about him before but am now incredibly excited. the kid COULD be a gun

Great post Stinger2, well said. thanks for the memories neale, you bled for this football club, and gave your heart and soul for the betterment of the club. your extreme joy after whitey's goal against the dogs in 05 will stay with me for a long time. that showed what success at this club meant to you. and i hope like hell that the boys win for you today, because it is exactly what you deserved

Neale summed it up properly today, today's decision/announcement is best for everyone. Congrats Neale, you have been fantastic for the club, and the way you spruiked the club in the 00's was fantastic. you gave 10 fantastic years to the club and gave your heart and soul and will always be remembered as a melbourne person. thankyou. now we must move forward, the ND era has/will ended, lets hope the next one will be able to get us one step further, something which IMO neale deserved but was unfortunately unable to achieve.

This sort of topic is completely moronic we're 2-9 and were talking about winning margins over a team who are only 1 1/2 wins behind us and have arguably been in more winning positions than us. get a grip. 1 pt or 99 points, who cares, when wins are as rare as they have been all season you take any. talk about getting ahead of ourselves...

Do you understand the way trading works? this is the time not to trade people because they hold clubs for ransom because they are essentially free agents, and can nominate a club they want to go to, and you are often forced into a trade that is not desired or unsuitable. or even better than that ... they walk for nothing. if we lose cameron bruce for nothing, i'll cry.

I'm with you here rhino, well said. think of him as a tagger for other teams Key Forwards. he gets 6 touches, but they only get 8 and 1 goal ... if that happens we wont have hack morons of the ilk of kingsley, welsh etc kicking massive bags. it may also force these forwards out of the forward 50 in order to get a kick, which is obviously a bonus (e.g. pavlich at the 'G last year where he got 20 odd of the most useles possessions on the HBF/Wing
