Tend to agree yet think the Gys may also be included for Bennell. Cannot work the other out but think there's a strong chance of Blease as the sub this week.
-
The week given to Kyle Hardingham is potentially the worst decision I have seen.
-
Correct he got in the play in the last. 9 touches, 2 goals that should have been 3 and could have been 4. Yet now we want to drop him. I would be playing him through for the next 2 and one after the break.

Does not a Dockers side decimated by injury not playing a previous Rising Star award winner who had 34 touches in the WAFL last week say something?
-
The Scully reply formula Number of post per day in thread since thread commenced = 77 Expected date of Scully announcement of departure = Sept 29th (day G.Ablett announceed split last year) Days until Sept 29 = 104 Additional posts to announcement = 8008 Add current posts = 1014 + 8008 = 9022 Forum Meltdown on September 29 = 140,000 Total posts = 149,022

Who are these other teams as young? Gold Coast?

Good to see this thread has cracked 1000 replys. Anyone want to guess how many it will finish with?

Didn't bother doing this last week as I though everyone understood the gap between us and the Pies. Obviously in peoples minds though a gap of 1000 games experience does not equate to 88 points (to be clear nor does it in mine) Worth noting that although talk of Freo's injuries this week and struggle to cobble a side together they still have 1527 games experience in their squad over 1407 in ours. However Freo at the G and it being our week on should still see us get over the line. -
What are you doing? Logic has no place here

How Gysberts has 30 possessions 2 weeks ago and gets the Rising Star nod and suddenly he is "on the block" is a joke.
-
I am not calling him a superstar (althought did you see him smash Esenndon rucks 2 weeks ago?)I am saying he can hold his own both in the centre and around the ground. Jamar was rucking 85% game time prior to injury as we did not know if Martin could hold his own for extended periods of time. I think it is fair to say that the coaches would have greater confidence to leave Jamar forward for greater periods of time than they would have a month ago.
-
Cook would likely be playing on McPharlin and giving away 10 kilos?
-
I agree. Martin has shown he is more than adequate in the ruck. This should allow Jamar to spend more time forward and the two of them to split their time as the deep target. We then just wait for Cook to be ready to develop his game at the next level after some more kilos are added to his light frame. I do not want a short term solution particularly if it means paying over the odds ala Hale.
-
Although we had less ball we held our own for the the first and third but did not get any momentum on the scoreboard. We were pantsed in the second and fourth.

Maybe I am just not understanding todays football but I do wonder when all our forwards are standing on the wing what would be wrong with telling Jurrah to prowl inside 50m. You cant tell me he wouldn't be manned up? I would think at least 2 players would come back. He would create an option when we go forward and if a second dropped back should that not give us another link to go through? I dont believe his loss in a defensive press up the ground makes the difference so dont understand why this would not have more likelihood of creating a scoring opportunity.

Let me be clear that I was a massive wrap for Sam when we drafted him. This is because he had blistering pace that he used both ways. I also believe he has the talent to become an excellent AFL player. Yesterday is the first opportunity I have had to see him play since the intra-club at Goschs paddock. Although he highlighted some exceptional elements of his game I was completedly underwhelmed by his performance to the point of pure frustration. He chose on numerous occasions to not use his natural gift of pace defensively and on occasion stood stationary whilst players around him busted a gut to pressure the ball carrier. Rather than make position he continually looked for an easy kick behind the player who took the mark rather than working for the ball. He then when he got the ball tried to do too much on nearly every occasion. Based on what I saw today he needs to simplify his game, take the first option and do the team things before he should be considered for the next level.
-
I observed the game and on numerous occasions blease stood there with the ball within 5-10 metres and did nothing. That is not hyperbole that is what I observed.
-
I agree H. He does some nice things second half but he had an absolute mare. He also refuses to chase on numerous occassions. If his name was Strauss there would a thread of its own saying how he should never play for the Dee's.
-
I'll take Scullys word once he's signed.
-
In Bartram Out Evans Anyone who thinks Petterd should be back in needs to watch how much better we functioned with a forward who works for the ball, works for his team mates when they have the ball and has effective disposal. Petterd has sticky hands but is lazy and a poor ball user.

Credit where credit is due with Bailey he made some gutsy decisions this week. His change in public persona both during the week and post game was a breath of fresh air. His decision to load up on kids rather than mature list cloggers could have seriously backfired under Friday night lights but he backed it in and it proved successful. I dont know if he can extract that from this group each week but I expect to see a similar attacking strategy employed for the rest of the year. Yes there is times to be defensive but you play the game to win and if we go down attacking so be it. Does not change my view on him for next year but some consistency of that intent and style for the remainder of the year would make me re-think my position. Certainly proves that we shouldn't pull the trigger until we have the full year to review.

How amusing that the position that had him rated so highly after the U18 championships is where he played his best football last night.
