I would be disappointed if he leaves but Trengove, Gysberts and McKenzie showed tonight that him leaving is not the be all and end all. In fact I would be more upset if it was Gysberts that was being mentioned with GWS.

Melbourne team games experience vs Saints 1424 vs Blues 1297 vs Bombers 1138 (Essendon have 1648) Fair to say this weeks team gives me alot more confidence with the removal of some experienced list cloggers and B-Graders and the return of Jack and Sculls. 2 first gamers, a second gamer and 2 third gamers now that makes for some exciting viewing. -
I know its a set of highlights but anyone who thinks Strauss wont make it should look at those highlights. Some very promising pieces of play - particularly his attack on the ball.

Round 11 Melbourne Injury List
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Lil_red_fire_engine's topic in Melbourne Demons
It was. The word Newton was deemed offensive so was removed from the title -
I have no issue with what the Carlton boys said because it was true. I think I would have preferred DB come out and said yep we didn't go hard enough or work hard enough. At least we then know he's tellin the truth.
-
Guaranteed we come out hard this week and show them they were wrong....Then go back to our usual ways on Queens Birthday

Michael Newton's out 4-6 with a foot injury. Guess that pretty much stamps Gawn for Friday now if there was any doubt. Newton out for four to six Rohan Bail (knee) - 4 weeks Clint Bartram (hip) - test Robbie Campbell (knee soreness) - test Aaron Davey (knee) 6-8 weeks Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) - 6 weeks Colin Garland (ankle) - 5 weeks Jack Grimes (foot) - season Mark Jamar (knee) - 3 weeks Michael Newton (foot) - 4-6 weeks Jake Spencer (knee) - season Luke Tapscott (hamstring) - 2 weeks Add to this Austin Wonaeamirri who is out on compassionate leave and back home on the Tiwi Islands.

Dean Bailey, I hope you're watching

It is not arrogance to have an opinion on what you observe. I do not need to be in the inner sanctum to know what the tactics are they were there for all to see. You have taken one point in isolation which you have a clear view on based on your observation. Yet have blindly ignored the other points onthe basis that you could not know what the tactics were. Could you not make your own observations on these as well? In summation you believe the tactic of a player behind the ball gave us the best chance of winning.I believe it gave us no chance and was persevered with even when it was proving to do nothing. It' a difference of opinion and one which I don't think deserves any further discussion. -

Are you saying that you were happy with the tactics employed on Friday night. That even when we were getting our hands on the ball but kicking to no one, when it was obvious that Carlton were not on their game and were a man down you believe it gave us a legitimate chance to win the game. Or are you saying you were happy that he chose a tactic to minimize the likelihood of a blowout. I am not disputing it is a legitimate tactic when correctly employed at the right time. However to me it was putting the white flag up from the first bounce. -

You have just explained the frustration I have though. Even at the start of the year I penned Carlton as a loss. Moreso with a second string side in. So why not take the game on rather than try and minimise the damage? I actually think we played to game plan on Friday that's the issue. -

No one disputes the games played. I publish them before each game. It just kills me that our coach chose a strategy last week with limited focus on actually trying to get the 4 points. -
Dear Dean: Please if you are not already turn your TV to channel 10. If you're not home thats ok I will happily purchase you a copy of Suns v Cats via Name a Game. A team of kids playing an unbeaten side and guess what NO MAN BEHIND THE BALL. NO FLOODING. A FORWARD STRUCTURE. AN ATTACKING GAME PLAN. Regardless of what happens second half kudos to McKenna for backing his guys to try and win the game. I wish we had a coach with balls like that.

Thanks HT. Who would you promoe from what you saw today?

Great effort by Davis to be in the bests in what I think was his first senior call up. Any comment by those that were in attendance?

We are not going to make 8 changes. Doubt we will make more than 4.What have Wonna and Davey done to deserve reprieve?
-
In: Trengove, Scully, Howe, Gawn, Blease (or Bartram if fit) Out: Bennell, Evans, Petterd, Bate, Warnock NB: Evans stiff but too many kids and was not as impressive this week. Newton to play and play at full forward all game.Davey to play at Casey if fit.

Love your work M22

KC, bests to half time?

There was nothing wrong with the kick. It was in front of him to run onto to mark and Frawley chose to try and take it on the bounce. Frawley is not playing with the same attack on the ball as he did last year. Too many times he is sitting off waiting for the mistake from the opposition. I would agree that he is likely carrying something as it appears more than lost confidence.

Morton fluffed 2 kicks but I actually thought he put his body on the line well last night. His first attack on the pill was perfect yet he is rewarded with a free kick against for what was a good attack on the ball by two players. The issue with injuries is it forces to many kids or too many C-Graders all at once. Players who we want to teach lessons ie: Morton and Bennell and forced to be played to plug gaps. Players who need to know they are on the edge of being demoted too work hard ie: Petterd, Dunn etc... get games based on trying to balance maturity and youth. If we have a forward line next week that plays forward, play with the same application as last night and remove some of the deadwood from tonight then I am confident we will win next week. I would not make wholesale changes but return Trenners and Bartram if available and honour 2 players who deserve a game from Casey today.Anymore than 4 is too much.

my 3 word player analysis V Carlscum
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
You can if you kick it forward to a forward line with no-one in it. Thats not just Green but most of our metres gained in the first qtr.
