I noted that as well. Green is not a Captains a$$hole
-
The lack of pure midfielders in the list of players you mentioned probably explains most of it.

Just departed Spencer St on the 11.40 Footy Special. Have not been down the Cattery for at least 15 years. Hopefully the boys put up an effort of consistent intensity and take the game on. Go Dees.

From what I have seen is an appalling kick for goal. Great hands though.

Finally got around to wathing this last night. Brad Green is uncomfortable in front of the camera full stop. I actually thought considering that, if you had a transcript of the conversation his responses saw him perform quite well. Many have read way too much into this.

Out: Maric, Bate, Gysberts, Nicholson In: Jurrah, Evans, Bartram, Scully
-
Watts was Birchalls man for the first half. This is one of the reasons Watts was moved to the wing. Bartram was not left out he did not get through training during the week. Agree with all other points though.

Due to our smaller bodies we pushed more into the stoppage to try and win it. Hawthorn due to their size can post some outriders to push it out to. Compared previously to when we have played Hawthorn, Carlton, Geelong, I actually thought there was a marked improvement in our ability inside the stoppage today but they simply outclassed us when they got it out. Endeavour was good today until we ran out of gas half way through the third. However too many times we took one handball too many or handballed when the kick was the right option. I was amazed with our lack of change in tact aside from the usual Watts behind the ball option. Garland was getting pantsed by Rioli and we lacked Frawleys dash yet even when the game was getting beyond reach we did not free Frawley up and move Garland to Franklin.

To call Trengove and McKenzie hard bodied is seriously kidding yourself. Am not making excuses just being a realist.
-
Although I did not have high hopes of a win which team does the weather favour? You could argue Hawthorns bigger bodied midfield coming off the bye. However I would not think slippery conditions will suit Hawthorns chip n charge game style. I just hope to see consistent application today and smart wet weather footy from our boys and the result may look after itself.

Are you saying that if he signed at the start of the year compared with now post GWS speculation that our offer would be the same? His value at present is well beyond anything he has shown due to the perceived need to retain him vs his actual performance value.
-
I agree with all of it. If I had a choice between GWS taking one of Scully, Trengove, Watts, Frawley, Gysberts, Jurrah or Sylvia then Scully would be my preferred. He is an accumulator of possessions who Bulldogs games aside has not for mine directly affected the result of a game with his performance in his 2 years. He will get stronger but he will not get taller, quicker or better endurance. I doubt his kicking will improve but I may be proven wrong. The key with Scully is he offers us a difference in our midfield set that we dont currently have. If I knew that we would get two first rounders and I was sure we could use these to attain two of the GWS 17 year old picks then I would take it and run. Unfortunately we cant be sure.

For me the next 4 weeks will tell alot about who our captain is next year.
-
I think it is more important that Strauss limits his opponent and the rebound will come. His defensive work last night was very good.
-
I agree Jack. I am sure players this week will be closely monitored to see how they recover, particularly those that lost considerable weight tonight. However I would expect 4 changes purely based on those who recover worst rather than form.
-
Losing to North will be the one that bites us later in the season.
-
Coming off those conditions to play the Hawks. If we get within 8 goals I will be very impressed. Expect wholesale changes particularly to the kids.

6. Petterd 5. Frawley 4. Jones (great job on Pearce) 3. Martin 2. Maric 1. Trengove
-
No I am actually serious about this - and playing this hypothetical on if he goes (not assuming he is gone). The current environment with the money on offer is starting to blur the potential motivators of kids just wanting to play the game they love. I am not saying it is our fault I am saying are there signs to identify a players motivations. If so how much credence do you put in them? What is the difference to a player like Scully who under this hypothetical leaves and the examples of Martin, Trengove and Tapscott. I am just wondering how much emphasis now needs to start being put on this. Second point though if he does go there needs to be a serious assessment on why he left as I could not see this playing out at any of the big 4 clubs.
-
I agree with this statement. I know most say you cant fault a kid for taking the money yet we hear that Martin signs halfway through his first year because Richmond is where he wants to be. We see Trengove and Tapscott extend their deals almost before the season starts. We state that we look at character of player yet if a 2nd year player accepts ridiculous money that he does not deserve what did we miss? Do we not look at their motivations for playing footy. Secondly if we do lose Scully we must seriously assess our club and culture. If Scully was at Carlton or Collingwood would he leave or is there a failure of the club that means the best do not want to wear the red and blue?
-
I agree. We should be targetting a couple of crumbers. It is the biggest gap in our future 22.
-
This was raised on The Insider and I strongly agree the biggest deficiency now in our list and our future 22 is a quality small forward. That should be the main target of our draft/trade period.
-
He does not apply defensive pressure and he is prone to not wanting to go when its his turn. If only he had the drive of someone less talented like Jake King and he would be playing alot more games.
