Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

arnt we all jumpping the gun ?????

You don't call press conferences to announce that everything is going ok when you're a distant 0-4 and your skipper is struggling.

I too think its to hand over the Captaincy.

The smart money says its to Bruce.

If we're doing this rebuild thing fully then it should go to someone younger. Bypass the generation that we've decided we don't care about. Build from the ground up with a strong young Captain.

It can't be McLean. It can't be Miller.

Jones? Probably too soon.

Apparently Neita had illegitimate triplet sons whom he just recently found out about.

These three identical triplet boys have been immediately drafted under the "Illegitimate Bastard Son Rule of 2008".

They are now all 18 year olds and built like their father but with greater speed and all 3 are missing the rubber chest gene.

They also have the ability to turn on the spot and quickly change direction at speed.

The press conference is to announce that they will be permitted to go onto the seniors list immediately.

(Don't ask how old he was when they were conceived -thats personal!!!)

If it is to announce he is relinquishing the captaincy, i'd have thought it'd go to Junior as he is in the leadership group and has won our last 2 B and F's, further that he is possibly in one of his last couple of seasons.

SEN have said it's just a routine press conference, and has nothing to do with Neitz retiring / standing down as captain, so nothing to really get excited about!

Didn't someone in this thread say that SEN claimed that Neitz was going to announce his retirement?

Oh heavens  ........

My thoughts exactly.

For one I hope Neita plays out the rest of the year and retires with the dignity and respect he deserves.

Secondly, if he does indeed hand over the captaincy (that'll teach the club not to give players the power to choose a leadership group  ), there is not a single player who deserves to take the role, so what will that achieve?

Junior? Too old

Miller? Is apperantly like totally the worst player like ever

Bruce? Argh!

Robbo? Double Argh!

Yze? Is he still alive?

Brock? Doing donuts with a suspended license

Jones? 19 year old, can't hit a target by hand/foot

Green? Not considered a leader by his peers

Rivers? Shattered groin

Everyone else? Terrible/inexperienced/just plain wrong

Green? Not considered a leader by his peers

Rivers? Shattered groin

Still the best two options in my opinion and yet not even in the "leadership group"......

I don't know what that says about me or them ;) ?!!!

Meh... all that garbage surrounding McLean doesnt bother me. So what if he is a bogan? He is easily our best player. Ling and Rawlings holding onto him at all times over the past 2 weeks shows what the opposition thinks. He works hard, is vocal and the players respect him. What more do you want?

Jones has being asked to do too much. To me he is a natural runner who should be a link man who can win his own ball.

Rivers has the game and the class to be captain. He at least should be a Vice Captain. Shattered groin or not.....

You are preaching to the converted. I doubt you'll find a more pathetically biased Brock fan on this site ;)

I just can't see him going from being on the outer with the leadership group, to stepping in as captain tomorrow (if that is even the case!).

It would be a brave choice and one that I would applaud, because it is a long-term solution to a really big problem.

Also agree that Rivers deserves a leadership role in some capacity.

The speculation is based on the form of Neitz this year and last year. Why else did he continue playing? He got his 300 games last year. He/they are taking away 20 games of experience from a rookie (ie Valenti), we have Holland, we have Robbo why did we need Neitz to continue. He will not play in our next premiership and has no scope for improvement.

This forum is about opinion and speculation.

I think Neitz stayed on because the club needed him. If the club looked like they where going 2 make the finals with or without his influence then he would have stepped down but unfortunently the club is in need and Neitz like the trooper he is iced his knee sucked it up and has kept playing. Whatever Neitz says i respect and stand by it.

Neitz true legend of the MFC.

Yeah, must be tough for him, but of course the 500k per year would have nothing to do with it....

Seriously though, we as a club need to learn to honour our champion players. This is something I think the club has lacked over the last twenty years or so but there is one thing worse than that and that's when a champion player goes one (or two) season too long. It doesn't help the player and it doesn't help the club, take a look at Gehrig this year with the saints. The other side of the argument is that we should be more lenient with our club champions, to give them a bonus year for the efforts.

It's a tough issue to deal with for both parties. Initial stages it appears that Neitz has got it wrong pulling on the boots again, but the club is in the business of winning premierships so we need to get the balance right without giving in to our emotions too much.

Perhaps a good outcome would have been for Neitz to have retired last year but be employed by the club as a forward coach for an extra year or two who also trained with the group...

Speculation in the absence of fact is one of this Forum's achilles heels.

I struggle how a KPP is keeping another slow midfielder prospect out of the mix.

Holland was retained to cover injury to preferred players and pinch hit odd role. He will retire at year. He wont play in the next premiership and has no scope for improvement.

Robbo can barely retain his own position in the team. He wont be around to play in the next premiership and while there is massive scope for improvement in some areas he wont make them or simply cant.

And then there is the issue of lack of leadership as well.

Interesting that your opinion does not back up your central argument. And I also thought it wise you dropped the speculation argument. No weight in it.

This is intriguing. What do people think it will be?

1. Neitz announces retirement.

2. We cn make the finals.

3. Apologize to members and supporters

4. Announcement of Casey Fields

5. We are moving to the Gold Coast.

CC carboshed the first argument.

I think it will be a statement say that the Club and players realise the disappointment and frustration of the supporters at the performance. The Club is working hard to improve those performances and is seeking the continued support of members and supporters as it develops its players.

Or an announcement that he is going to retire either at the end of the year or after a milestone game perhaps.

Possibly a handing over the captaincy baton to another player so as to concentrate on his game.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
