I noticed on the weekend that at most clearances around the ground Jamar would come sprinting in from wherever he was and contest the ruck WITH WHITE ALREADY THERE.. I cannot for the life of me understand why we need to have 2 ruckmen in the one contest (possibly because they're both pretty crap). Seriously, if this was the directive from the coaches, what the hell were they thinking? If not, then Jamar should be shot.

I noticed that too. Very odd.

I also noticed around the stoppages everybody was very tight. There was no room for somebody to run through. under 12 stuff really. I also noticed at one point there was a ball up on our half forward line and Neitz ran up to join the crowd and there was nobody left between him and the goals 60m away. Where was the kick going to go to?

Worst is the center square were we have no one on the defensive side then white continually taps it behind him.............. and they run it out unopposed!

Ironically, the best facet of our game this year has been the clearances. Prior to this week I think we were ranked 7th in the competition whilst we were sitting 15th or 16th in most other categories. But I agree with the Jamar observation although I can't recall seeing PJ doing it in the first 3 rounds.

i got so [censored] off when i think it was in the last when harvey was able to get the clearance and then run through the centre sqaure and kick the goal.... basic bl00dy football i would have thought and yet again, we are unable to execute!!

seriosuly though, some of the centre square combinations were just mind numbing - chris johnson was in there for a few...

When it comes to stats I wouldn't take any notice of them our clearances have been shocking we have strayed our disposal every time and we have no run through the middle and more importantly the halfback line if there was any doubt that Cameron wasn't a woeful recruiter the doubt is all gone.

Agree our disposal is poor whether players are under pressure at stoppages to release the ball quickly or running in the open with no opposition pressure - unbelievable that players can get to AFL level without having basic foot and hand skills!

As for CC I couldn't believe so many people at the club held him in such high esteem - good luck Richmond!

Tactically speaking, what's the problem with it? This very ploy earned us our first goal of the game. Neita contested the ruck, Jamar came over the top and effectively palmed to Davey. He centered the ball to Dunn, and we got our only goal in the first term. Good coaching, good execution.

If you'll indulge me RD, I want you to tell us how we could set up differently in the square or tactically counter this situation. Should be basic - your words not mine. Once you've done that, I'll tell you how it's far from foolproof. FWIW, North allowed Davey to do the same late in the first, it's just a shame Aaron couldn't convert on the run.

You'll find it was (may still be) a tactic used by port with the lade/brogan combo, seemed to work well for them so it doesn't surprise me that bailey has decided to use it also...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
