"Juice" Newton

Out of all the disappointments this weekend the standout was BarPen passing on the news that Newton did not appear interested when playing for Sandy on Sunday.

Can anyone who watched him, and/or knows him, please shed some light on where his head is at?

Because I am seriously worried!

IMO if Juice is fair dinkum about building a career as an MFC KP forward then he should definately putting his best foot forward RIGHT NOW!

Bails is a hard man, and perhaps Juice does not feel the love with Bails at the helm. If any of our young brigade of players has taken a step back this year, I would have Juice at the top of my list. 2008 should have been his year, but has done nothing in the 1s or 2s. FFS, he took mark of the year last year and other supporters were becoming green with envy of this new KKP prospect! Since then, a big fat NOTHING from juice!

I am not sure where his head is at, but I can tell you where it will be if he does not turn it around. On the chopping block trade week!

I am hoping Juice can pull it together soon, with an ageing forward line, the forwardline is begging for the next Generation to take over. I hope Juice comes back soon........................

Based on his performance against Hawthorn I don't want him in the side until he puts in more of a defensive effort and works on his mobility. Having said that he's the future of our forward line so he needs AFL game time.

His head appears to be in the clouds.

He has talent, no doubt, but we know too many players who missed their chance at a career because their heads were not in the right place.

Bailey will either sort him out, or ship him out. Maybe if we get rid of him now, we can get a good pick for him, that is if Bailey really sees no hope for ever changing his attitude.

Looking at our key forward stocks during the off-season, it was obvious there were some serious issues. We'll be losing 1000+ goals soon from Neitz and Robertson, with next to nothing to replace them with. I had hoped Newton would be able to take on full-forward, with 'hope' being the operative word. What I had seen since his arrival at the club had give me little confidence that he would 'make it' as an AFL player. Even when he manages to snare a couple of goals, he rarely has an impact beyond that. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see him improve out of sight and cement a key forward spot for the next decade, but I'm not getting my hopes up. We may see a smaller forwardline as the season progresses. Ultimately, the move of Green to full-forward could be something Bailey at least experiments with in the last 6 weeks of the season.
