Great appointment if you consider the lengths that he went to obtain the position.

http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/mcna...5602388383.html

If he shows the same commitment, and innovation, during his time at Melbourne, it can only be very beneficial for our club.

After reading that article its made me even more impressed, mcnamee has gone out of his way and surveyed the surrounding areas to find out the real plight of the club and how he would go about fixing it... good stuff..

Im really excited about the off field team we have in place now...

nervous, but excited... anyone else?

i'm listening now...this is good news i hope...just quickly, i was going to ask before, who does conlan work for?

bloody brilliant news, our new off-field team is certain to raise the profile and maybe have enough gonads to stick for the club when the media and clubs are having free-kicks at us

The vision of McNamee and Connolly in the same room is frightening.

Who else would get a word in?

Great appointment and congratulations to both the MFC and Paul.

The fact that Paul is not a football man is irrelevant, that is Connelly's job. Paul is here to make all those MFC ideas a reality namely:

- Casey Fields summer base

- China

- New Home

- Team Melbourne

But most importantly attract the Corporate support to fund these things and get us out of debt!

Paul is a man, I believe, that can make these ideas float! Exciting times to be involved with the MFC!

Bailey, Connelly and McNamee great appointments and a lot of credit has to go to Paul Gardner, although some people on this site don't think he is doing a good job!

quite an interesting read isnt it.:) I think we'll finally see a lot more effort made to raise the profile of the club now. You get the impression he really wanted he job. He strikes me as a lateral thinker and someone who doesnt confine their efforts to things you find only in boxes :)

Yep, I'm looking forward to seeing us have a much greater presence in the media then we have for the last five years.

There's nothing like free advertising.

an exciting appointment and what one would describe as a massive coup...

look at the sponsorship of the aussie open during his years in charge and also the necessity for increased prize money, the hopman cup and growth of this tournament...

the golf was an interesting one and what he has done for this was eveident this eyar but moreso going forward.. the concept of the par 3 colloseum and the press that one hole received was amazing....

was described by the head of golf as being a little left of centre in his ideas...

I think that we now have a strong administration team in place..

now for onfield!!

Does anyone know if McNamee had anything to do with the SmartCup Invitational down at Flinders?

Paul is very excited about the challenge ahead. HUGE job and MASSIVE WIN for the Dee's. ! He is definitely one of the best in the business. You only have to see where he took the Australian Open (tennis) and more recently, the accolades re Australian Opens (golf). He is innovative, entrepreneurial, determined and…..used to working with lots of people….expects perfection……and…….boy, I’m making him sound like God!!!!! Well, I have a close friend who has worked with him for 20 years now and knows him inside out.

In the lead up to our game on sunday...ITS GREAT NEWS!

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
