Actually I think RR is right. If there is a tactical advantage to be gained by keeping an injury quiet any code would do so. Thurstans in the ARL played most of last year with a shoulder injury, unbeknown to the opposition for fear they would target and try to exploit it.

Wheather you like it or not professional sport is highly competitive and clubs of all codes will do all in their power to ensure their chances of success is not comprimised. Even if that means not disclosing the full details of player injuries to fans and of course the opposition.

To a point yes, nearing the finals...definately. 6 weeks out from the start of the season, well thats questionable.

I thinks whats frustrating for fans is if your hear so much fluff that you stop bothering to tune in to club "announcements".

Early last year I was just hanging out for "my boy Jared" [and Bartam] to get back on the park and give us something to cheer about, I recall how frustrating it was with all the 426 nonsense. It was like being promised Jessica Alba for Easter and ending up with Oprah for Christmas.

there is no point throwing players who are recovring from injurys into the NAB cup, at least the 1st round anyway

let them play a quarter next week, and a half the week after, so come round 1... they will right to go at 100%!

im sure beamer, rivvo and co are good to go, they are just be cautious with them, and not trying to ruin our season early like last year, at least we are learning!!

Round 1 of the NAB Cup... could there be a more meaningless game?

All of our older players, or anyone who has been on a modified program throughout the summer should be rested for this one. If we progress, and as we approach the season, more and more players will start to get a game just to get them prepared for the real deal.

If all goes well, everyone but Wheels and Bartram should get at least one game under their belt between now and Round 1.

I can't think of one team that is fielding a full-strength side this week. It's just not logical.

The result might well be meaningless but I still wouldn't miss it for quids (although I might regret saying that in 72 hours time  ). Seriously, what is important is how the team plays the game even in the absence of many of our better players. I want to see some system and purpose in the way they play, something different from the team to show that the new coach has them on the right track. That's not a lot to ask, is it?

Moloney has played 63 games and kicked 14 goals.

:o :o :o

Wow.... If you'd asked me to guess I would have said 50-75 games and about 30-40 goals...

That's a shock. I seem to have so many memories (14 memories perhaps?) of him streaming out of the guts and smashing through a couple of big ones in succession. Like he did in the Geelong game (I think) in round 1 last year... Our first 2 gals from memory...

Interesting... Still... He has a big kick on him, and while the stats suggest he gets intercepted, I'd probably be a bit nervous as an opposition supporter when Beamer has it in his hands with a bit of space to run into.

would be interesting to know how many behinds he has scored. and it would be further interesting to know how many of those have come from outside 50...

Cast your mind back to the Demons vs Cats game at the MCG last year

First quarter, Moloney absolutely dominates picking up possies and kicking two magnificent long goals when we never looked like scoring

Then, he sits out the last 3 quarters with a stuffed groin

Moloney is an absolute gun, make no mistake. We will finish top 4 if him, Rivers, McLean and Sylvia all have injury free seasons

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
