Just spoke to someone at the club. All practice matches are closed to the public. So we will not be able to see the blokes play until the Geelong game. From a previous post I read here on Demonland, about Chris Connolly having a go at a supporter who took photos at a training session, there is real paranoia around the club.

Not sure of my thoughts on closed sessions, but it's frustrating that all other clubs dont see the need for these closed sessions.

I think the issue is with someone filming video at training. I can understand the concern about that especially where the practice session involves match play sessions.

How do you know what other Clubs do in regard closed sessions? In fact it is a common practice for Clubs to adopt hand in glove tactics involving practice sessions.

That's correct.

I spoke to a mate who barracks for Carlton regarding this same issue today and he told they held a closed intra-club game last week!!

Look at some of the clubs with $$. They go out of the country to get some privacy!!

GO DEES - May the Force be with you.

I have no issue at all if training is secret as long as they win games. They can all stand on their heads and eat ice cream if it helps them win games.

I have no issue with that. We are in it to win it and if we can win a flag off it in the next few years then good on em.

Our first practice match is on Friday 8th February, Ainslie Oval- Canberra (9am-11am) and it is open to the public.

Adem Yze said they were meant to have one today but a few boys pulled out sore so their first hit out will be next Friday in Canberra. He said he wasn't sure if it would be a full game or just half a game. They also have training on Wednesday at 8:30am at the same ground. [source: Canberra Times]. It's all part of the Regional Camp.

You'd imagine they'll be pretty rusty for the NAB Cup game V Geelong if they've only had half a practice match as preparation.

I have had the same feeling when I have gone to watch MFC play in the past few years. <_<

It's a shame Melbourne's only 4 quarter performance last year was during a practice match at Princes Park

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
