Draft Selection 4

Recommended Posts

i posted much earlier that if judd didn't choose melbourne, we would still be in a good position where we could trade pick 4 for more than it's true worth, as carlton or collingwood are desperate to secure the judd trade...

so my question, what would we accept off either the pies or the blues for pick 4?

rusling, pendlebury, cloke, fevola, walker, murphy are names that spring to mind combined with other picks perhaps...

Rusling = dud

Pendlebury = soft

Cloke = cant kick

Fevola = wouldnt give a 4th rounder for him

Walker = worse than Godfrey , not a chance

Murphy = maybe

Im realy not in the mood to bend over and help either collection of scum acquire Chris Judd. Any attempts to take pick 4 from Melbourne's hands must involve considerable hurt from our trading partner. I don't believe us winning comfortably out of any dea for pick 4 will see us viewed in future asa poor trading partner. Given the desperation of whichever club is after our pick, we'd be mad to accept an deal in which we came out only marginal winners.

i totally agree... what i'm getting at I guess is we should really look at ripping of carlton or the scum at the trade table in their effort to get Judd... if we can't get judd, the next best thing would be ripping off the pies for pick 4...

Pick 4 is off the table in my opinion. It was only ever on the table for Juddy. After the judd trade, there wont be a big enough deal for us to move the 4th pick.

THe dees won't help out collingwood or Carlton unless they were willing to give up something decent, we all know that Jarod Waite and Andrew Walker are on the market, and I am sorry to say but neither or both do not warrant pick 4.

My money is on Pick four staying at Melbourne.

The dees will still be heavily involved in trade week, just not with pick 4.

Jarrod Waite + something might be worth something. He plays tall, and has terrific potential. I agree that trading pick 4 is unlikely now. If anything, it might be worth trading to get another pick in the top 10. Rance + Palmer/Ebert would more than offset any disappointment I feel about the Chris Judd situation.

IMO players like Cloke and Waite are no chance, simply for the reason that they are too hard to give up. Waite looks like he has the potential to be a star (Cloke as well to a lesser extent), but they are also the sons of club legends. Even for presidents with the power of Pratt and Maguire, giving something like that up is too much of a risk.

Firstly .. I dont think teh Filth will giving up anything like we were going to in order to secure Judd...thats if they get him.

Secondly....theres no one at Collingwood Id want... why buy store bought when you can home grow far better :)

IMO high draft picks being off the table is stupid. And if we can trade it for a "win" I don't care who we trade it with.

People overvalue early picks. Since 2000 the number 4 picks have been Livingstone, Polak, Walsh, Ray, Tambling, Kennedy and Leuenberger.

Now we all know good players come from early picks, but pick 4 is just that; it's pick 4. It's speculative. You could end up with a champ, or you might end up with Luke Livingstone or Tim Walsh. If you can trade it for a top 10 player from the last couple of years who's doing well plus a second rounder aren't you better off?

We should look to profit from trading. That's what tradings all about. What the other person gets is of no interest to me as long as I'm ahead.

History shows us the best picks of upcoming talent are roughly 1 through 5. Some smokeys are around but they will defy the convention in every which way. To use an early pick on existing talent warrants someone of Judds calibre..and nothing less. There are very few existing players worthy of forfeiting that early pick.

Picks in the lower half of round one may get decent value of exisitng player as the real gems of draft are already gone and your now choosing between an exisitng player of semi known stature ( and potential ) or an upcomer of guesstimate value.

Precisely why we need another top 10 pick. I genuinely don't care how we attain it, so long as the trade participants are 25 or older. Practically nobody should be off-limits.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

    Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

    HALF FULL by KC from Casey

    It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

    GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

    It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

    As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

    OVER YET? by KC from Casey

    The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
