Well done Geelong

 Geelong has demonstrated to all Victorian clubs that we can win flags

Geelong had a 5million debt back in 1999 & without any AFL assistance they are now profitable

They have drafted all young kids & developed them

They drew a line in the sand with player discipline eg Steve johnson goes on to win the Norm Smith

Dont Tell me that its too hard for Demons to do exactly what Geelong has done because when you get the right people with the correct vision & strategies along with goods planning the above is achievable!

no afl assistant but remember they do get heaps of profits from home games at KP where they sell all seats as reserved seats for $30 a pop at least. they also have had around $20 million (i believe) in funding from afl, and state and local governments to the redevelopment of KP.

that being said, congrats. they deserved the premiership, they played great footy, and they really are a good bunch of guys.

Well done Cats.

It just goes to show that you can finish down the list one year and be back up there the next as long as you have a group of players willing to give their all, a good game plan and few injuries. Had Geelong or Port or any finals team copped the injuries to their key players, as we did this year, they would not have been within a bull roar of the finals. Never thought the Roos would go as far as they did but good luck to them.

We have talent but I beleive ND got as much as he could out of most of the team and we needed a fresh outlook and new blood. Naturally, CJ's arrival at the club would be a major coup but I have a feeling that if DB and his plan he put to the committee that got him the job will see us back in the finals in 08. I wish it was feb now and we were about to see how all the hard work has paid off and the new look Dees run out for their first match. Its going to be torture waiting.

I hope all you lucky guys down there will continue to give us interstaters the goss on training, players etc over the summer to keep us in the know.

Well done to the pussies and let's not forget the history behind this win.

Geelong won its first premiership in 1925.

Who won the flag in the year after that?

Before yesterday Geelong won its last premiership in 1963.

Who won the flag in the year after that?

I reckon we are an absolute Monty to win in 2008!!!

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
