Melbourne-Sandringham Alliance

It was mentioned on SEN late last night that our alliance with Sandy has become strained. Apparently Melbourne want some players who are carrying injuries, to go under the knife early, rather than play for Sandy during the finals.

Barry from Beach Road may be able to confirm if true.

The main problem is that Melbourne should be doing what's best for Melbourne, and Sandy needs to do what's best for Sandy and I just don't think that the two always exist in harmony. Our relationship has been wonderful for Sandy, I'm not convinced that we've benfited as much though.

what should be done is what's best for the PLAYER !!!!...everything falls into a queue afterwards. If crook or injured...FIX THEM.. teams canworry about fieding from whats left.

Sandy are in the finals..we arent.. they wil get back a handful of players soon enuff.. :)

but it is a bit embarrassing that not only is the spelling so poor that some words are nigh on impossible to make out but that the grammar is poor also, meaning there are random words in a row that dont really construct a sentence. no one minds some abbreviations but you have to write something comprehensible...

RIP the English language :(

Seriously though, on alot of forums now some of the grammar being used (or misused) is unbelieveable, bloody sms talk.

Would it kill you to use a capital letter every now and then? :P

no you have a fair point. i am lazy and dont when i use the net. bt i think one can read what ive written and work it out pretty easily...

the spelling is reasonable, and any abbrev. are easy enough to understand. i dont believe the capital letter issue effects anyones ability to read and comprehend my posts...although a 'senior member of the academic community' had a problem when i sent him a 3 line email and didnt use capital letters, the response to which was quite amusing...

A nice thought, but most players would be carrying an injury by about round 20 and still be able to play at 70-80%. If we put the likes of Dunn, CJ, Newton (if he qualifies), etc out for the year to get a head start on the surgeries than we could well be crippling a team that's been so dominant this year. I think it should be up to the player, if he really wants to play in the Sandy finals campaign, chances are he's played enough games for them to feel a part of the team and they deserve the choice.

Many young players enjoy the chance to be a aprt of a VFL finals campaign and win a premiership for Sandy, it could well be a good experience for a few of them.

i think it will be up to the new coach, who it sounds like could be named next week... although if bailey or hardwick get the gig they may hold off until hawthorn or port's season is over...

but if the new coach is named next week, lets say sheeds... do you think he's going to want to put off players' surgery so they can play at sandy? i wouldn't think so...

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
