Ash, who would you take to Essendon?

Essendons needs are a little different. Our midfield is poor, and while our backline is ok, with Fletcher and Micheal the wrong side of 30, that could do with some help.

Adel - B.Rutten [best full back, can always do with a player like him]

Bris - J.Brown [TGNTT - too good not to take, although Power would suit us as well]

Carl - M.Murphy [great young prospect]

Coll - S.Pendleburt [see above]

Frem - M.Pavlich [TGNTT]

Geel -G.Ablett Jnr [would give our midfield a lift]

Haw - J.Lewis [i'm a fan of him, not so much a fan of Franklin]

Kang - B.Harvey [has pace]

Melb - Either J.Rivers or B.McLean [your best defender and midfielder]

Port - C.Cornes [TGNTT]

Rich - Probably Deledio

StKil - N.Dal Santo [their best mid]

Syd - Not sure, pretty even team. Perhaps A.Goodes.

WCE - C.Judd [TGNTT]

WB - A.Cooney [has pace]

I still don't know why we didnt pick up Daniel Connors. I claimed him when he was playing for Vic Country...yet he managed to slide down the draft order till about pick 50. Ridiculous. He has Hodge like qualities..and yes..I do think he will be as good.

Scary how similar a lot of these lists are.

I like the idea of the list of young players someone suggested. Throw em all together and win for a decade.

I must admit he looked very good is a losing team against Geelong on Saturday. I knew very little about him before the weekend, but he looks Ok.

How could anyone pick dal santo over Riewoldt?

Glad none of you are involved in with the club. Actually, come to think of it maybe you are.

It's not a bad point, and I'm a massive Riewoldt fan. But it depends on needs. Essendon need an A-Grade mid fielder, whereas with Lloyd and Lucas in the side, a key forward isn't as important.

I think Melbourne need both. Jones, McLean and McDonald provide some grunt, with TJ being the only real silk. I would think Dal Santo would fit in there nicely. As would Riewoldt, but you can only pick one.

Collingwood - Tarkyn Lockyer - Running Defender

Essendon - Dustin Fletcher - KP Defender

Fremantle - Matthew Pavlich - KP Forward

Port Adelaide - Chad Cornes - Versatile

Richmond - Brett Delidio - Running Wing

St. Kilda - Nick Dal Santo - Running Wing

Sydney - Brett Kirk - In & Under Mid

West Coast - Dean Cox - Ruckman

Western Bulldogs - Brian Harris - Full Back

Perhaps the AFL should let us take anyone from each team for our 150th b'day...

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
