From the VFK match Sim report.

"In the shortened match simulation, the main standout performances came from Max Heath, Matthew Jefferson, Luker Kentfield and Xavier Taylor."

Hints there but team balance is a big issue.

We know X Taylor is in.

Jeffo a possible for a fairly mobile forward who can play high.? IMO likely in.

Max Heath has been in great form. Both he and Gawny can play forward at times to mix it up and he can provide more relief in the ruck?

Luker and Hendo may need some more time.

Bench IMO: Windsor, Taylor, Jeffo, Heath, Pickett.

A lot of our team had a shocker last week. Lets hope for a turn around in energy.

I like that bench A LOT!

We have really hit a tipping point with our injuries, especially the small/med backman cluster. Will make it tough to even get close this week. So important to bring intensity from the first bounce.

Yep. Great test of character.

Most likely Laurie, Taylor and Jefferson for mine.

Don't think Heath gets a shot until Max needs a rest or our key forward stocks get significantly depleted.

Imagine its our youngest and least experienced team in a while.

I saw that Luker is debuting, so maybe Fritter's foot is sore

If Luker was going to debut you'd think he'd have a video up online from the club by now.

His family needs time to come over from WA

Those ins don't fill me with confidence, coming up against the team that's one the last 2 flags. But I guess we'll wait & see

Where did you see this? Mihocek, JvR, Jefferson and Kentfield seems too tall. Particularly if Fritsch is still in the team.

How do people that use this site still not know the difference between a ‘squad’ and a ‘team’ selection announcement? The final team is announced tomorrow. Tonight’s was a squad. Not very difficult, been done this way for a long time.

I didn't see it anywhere, I'm just speculating that maybe Luker comes in as insurance in case Fritter's foot is still causing him problems.

And this is the [censored], MOOSE deserves a game in front of anyone. I RECKON, the Captain might not want additional support!

Agree that is most likely, im curious if Trelly gets sent for a spell at some point but i dont think Hendo has had enough continuity to come in yet 2qrts in 3 weeks given he was emerg during the week we actually played.

its real bottom of the barrell stuff at the moment for us

I don't see how Jefferson plays with van Rooyen in. Forward line too tall unless they are playing van Rooyen in the ruck. I think Heath gets a go.

B: Lever, Petty, Howes

HB: Tholstrup, Turner, Taylor

C: Windsor, Langford, Lindsay

HF: Chandler, van Rooyen, Sharp

F: Fritsch, Mihocek, L.Pickett

FOLL: Gawn, Steele, K.Pickett

IC: Langdon, Culley, Sparrow, Laurie, Heath

EMERG: Henderson, Jefferson, Kentfield

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
