Nah it’s game on

JHF with Nirvana as his goal song.

I take back every negative thing I’ve said about him.

Don’t like to admit it, but St Kilda are a pretty good side. The way we beat them and then to win in similar fashion against Gold Coast makes losing to Essendon by essentially 8 goals is just utter garbage.

I’m still in shock how we lost yesterday.

Very interested to see what happens re the Butters 50m penalty along with the threat of being reported by the umpire. In a post-match interview Butters said he approached the umpire after the match to ask him about his decision but he (the ump) refused to talk to Butters.

Butters or Wines? Wasn’t it Wines that got reported or am I wrong?

Jury's very much still out on St Kilda for mine.

Port are not very good this year, having already lost to North and West Coast and with wins against Essendon and Richmond only.

Need to see more from St Kilda before considering them a good side.

We had a bad day at the office yesterday. But we've also seen the other side of the ledger against the Saints, Blues & Suns

Nonetheless, yesterday was very disappointing

With the Demons it's maybe 'expect the unexpected'

The Senior players have to bring it because if they don't, we can't expect the young and/or the inexperienced players to win us games. It's too big of an ask

Our inexperienced players are learning how to play, at AFL level. Any player can be critiqued, but who's leading the way?

We need Bowey, Rivers & Viney back, asap

I’m pretty sure Butters said he tried to ask the umpire why he was threatened with being reported. Butters did mention Ollie Wines when he said “he (Wines) was there” but I don’t know what that had to do with the situation 🤷‍♀️

Post-match Butters interview

Huh, weird (and thanks). During the game it was showing Wines who had plenty to say and by his reaction, the 50 meters looked like it was something Wines had said. Butters ran up to him after it seemingly to calm him down.

Yeah it’s a little confusing but it appears it was all about Butters.

Incidentally, I like the honesty of Butters in that interview. Zander probably wasn’t expecting such an honest and detailed response.

He seems pretty confident he didn’t say anything untoward so I hope it does go to the tribunal because there’s about 100 other incidents I’ve seen of players arguing decisions.

The umpiring just never gets better. Last night was a joke. $25MILLION FC given a saloon passage as 1-4 would be have been a disaster after the recruiting. Probably not beating Crom this week. Similarly Essendope going into Anzac Day 0-6 would not have helped attendance or viewing numbers. Like it or not, it is sports entertainment. Umpire Sportsbet in the thick of it last night.

Well it’s all out in the open now. The umpire is alleging that Butters said, “How much are they paying you?”

i hope the answer was 'not as a full-time professional'

also, is this the umpire that is also a sportsbet employee to provide horse racing advice?

Sure is. Bastion of integrity there. I stand by my post earlier today.

Of course you do. You've made the exact same post (umps are cheats/games are rigged) literally hundreds of times on this site. And I mean "literally" literally.

You need some new material, mate.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
