TRAINING: Thursday 19th March 2026

Featured Replies

Absent today: Jack Viney

In rehab: Bowey (runners only) Jefferson, McAdam, Campbell, Johnson, Kentfield (all running strongly and closing in on returns - as per the official injury report). Kalani, in and out of drills but did not do the main match sim. Still a little worried about TC's neck - doesn't seem to have full mobility (if that's the word) in it.

Windsor with a guard on his shin (the training incident before last weekend), but otherwise did everything. Langdon, as reported, running laps only. I would still bet he is available this week, given they will probably take at least two emergencies west.

As Ghosty said - everyone up and about - great to see AMW at full speed, reckon he is a missing piece we need down back.

For those not travelling to Perth, Saturday is a great opportunity to see 10-12 AFL boys playing for Casey at the Whitten Oval - 12.05 pm.

Nah. If it’s spring break he’s more likely to be in Cancun with his 17 year old girlfriend.

His first name is Eric.

Vines rocked up towards the end. Not training of course but the boys who had yet to leave were happy to see him. I told him we miss him. He said he misses playing but “don’t write me off… I’ll be back in a few, don’t you worry about that!”

Bah, you beat me to it! P

I would only have first ballot NFL Hall of Famers as Dees fans tbh

That’s a niche joke but a good niche joke

Big Moose is not going to Perth

I have no issue with this. Gawn was able to shoulder the load with Petty very capable as 2nd ruck.

Darcy had just 45% TOG last week as they ease him back from injury so primarily it will be a Gawn v Jackson ruck battle.

Moose is also fine with this. Of course, he’d love to be in the 1s, but he said he’s happy to be given a chance with us and the coaches are very good with explaining the reasons behind decisions.

Right. Arrived just before 10 and the boys were already out there.

Ghosty in her usual position. Ands also Harvey WallBanger and Tim, Tim , Tim and Tim. (When in doubt call a track watcher Tim - usually works).

Full squad out there except for Viney who came over to watch when some of the senior players had already started to drift back to AAMI. Langdon the first to go followed by McAdam. Ed had a foot problem which didnt stop him running laps.

Jeffo and Luker moving very well for someone with foot/knee injuries. AMW looked fine and CJ runs like the wind. AJ looking good.

Shorts come in sizes S,M,L, XL but for Kossie they come in baggy and extra baggy. Wearing the extra baggy today.

Salem hard to spot as he was wearing nos 5. (Gee Lindsay trained well).

Lever brings a certain hardness to training with his tackles.

Jamar is still called Russian. Scarlett walks as if his ankles are tied together

Gawn moving very freely and with those long arms marks easily.

XT doesnt standout until he takes a casual one handed mark.

The training drills were like pre season, quick movement of the ball across and back to hit up a leading forward.

Richo watched on from the back of the truck - I assume the view is better from up there.

All in all a very happy group still'up' from the win.

Langdon would have to be in doubt for the weekend.

Dunno if it’s a serious matter. Jacob (our doc) didn’t treat him even though he (Jacob) was available at the time. Pete the physio rubbed cream onto his foot, it looked like it was a toe. It may well just be a blister 🤷‍♀️

Steven King just said in his press conference that Jack Viney is spending today with the Melbourne Storm to develop his leadership. Also talked about the great job Ryan Hoffman is doing as leadership consultant in developing our leadership.

He will get his turn. I have high hopes for Moose and I think he will end up as a very solid number 1 ruck for us once Father Time finally catches up with our GOAT ruckman.

I’ve coined a collective noun for the Tims but it would be censored on here.

PS: you’re one of the Tims, by the way 😊

Also, Kozzie’s extra baggy shorts were today paired with an extra baggy Dees hoody which was cut off at the midriff, not hemmed or anything, just cut with scissors. Bold fashion statement right there.

That's Eric Mangini, also a Fox Sport commentator. You just met what passes for royalty in the States.

He's reasonably high up in the system based on his bio

At the end of Sunday’s game, my mate noticed that Fritta pulled up short after kicking the sealer, and on the replay I notice it looks like he was stretching his groin. Can anybody please give me an update as to how he trained?

Wow. Geelong has taken the non-compete clause to a whole new level!

Looked like he was cramping

The weather conditions will be opposite to what Fremantle offers.

It's a cool 16°C, no wind, heavy/humid air, lovely conditions for this run at Gosch's.

When they separated into constructive drills, they had the bigger forwards matched against the backs in one on one contests. There were numerous movements towards a variety of kicks (hit ups, lobs and to advantage of one of them). It forced them to make repeated efforts and to stay engaged with the opponent. Rivers was supportive of the backs, with Chaplin and Scarlett with the forwards. At the same time the mids had an organised sim in a constricted area.

Another drill, had two groups hanging centrally at both the 50m arcs, defensive and offensive making four groups. The ball defensively would move back towards goal then switched to the attacking player down the opposite wing. They all rotated through the positions. Interestingly, they included many of the rehabbers in this drill. One the most constructive drills I've seen, which looks like the how the basics of the game is played.

Sims were done in a careful way, especially at the stoppage set ups. Sparrow was in everything, I think he has a point to prove. Cross was doing high forward/midfield well. Others that caught my eye were, Turner (shoulder to shoulder with opponent), CJ (in full flight when defending), Melksham (professionalism, also gets it and finishes), Heath (working hard), Miochek (smart, finds separation, gets to the right places and instructs others), White (some beautiful field passes), Onley (poise, good hands) .

Adams missed quite a few hits ups, Tholstrup started the sim fumbly but got better.

King has not been using the scoreboard (I assume less, one side agianst another and more of, in it together). There is no site of the Choco's central stripe on the balls.

They're a happy lot, doing plenty of hard work to go along with that atmosphere.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
