2026 Goal Songs Revealed

Featured Replies

Good in theory, but the sound was about as loud as our home games in 2009...

Definitely had some tech issues at the start before getting it about right with the volume. Couldn’t hear it and then overly loud then ok. Prob could work on the part of the song that is played a bit also. But if the players are picking, then they may not all suit the vibe you want to get.

I generally am not a fan of the songs after goals.

Also think it killed crowd interaction with many of the choices.

A shame Petracca is no longer with us. Might have heard Sixteen Tons after he kicked a goal.

I found it completely underwhelming, but not particularly annoying. Certainly better than ads blaring all the time.

Any novelty effect will wear off pretty quickly with most of these - hopefully the choices are refreshed on a regular basis.

Dont bother with the lil MFC/acdc intro, just play the song

Let me guess what ghosty would play if she could...

For something original and unique it would be a tossup between Sweet Caroline and Take Me Home, Country Road.

I thought Steeley’s goal song (Titanium by SIA) was a fitting choice but it turns out he didn’t pick it. He didn’t submit his list of songs before the cutoff so someone in admin chose on his behalf. It’s still just as fitting 👊🏼

This was exactly my take. The songs were way too soft at first but the bit that annoyed/bemused me was the lack of prep for which part of the song to play in a 20-25 sec break. Whoever does this at the G needs to think a bit more about this, so we don't have some long music intro before the chorus is cut in half.

Sadly, one of our players had ~"Sweet Caroline" and when they kicked a goal it probably got the biggest crowd sing a long.

That was Sharpie. He can’t believe there are people who don’t like that song.

It was mostly pretty forgettable - which is how it should be. It didn’t add much at the ground, but it also wasn’t so loud as to be overwhelming.

Watching footy on the TV, and seeing other teams do it, made me realise it’s even harder to hear on TV.

Sharpies pick has the greatest impact, because it has built in sing along. It made me think someone really needs to pick The Angels ‘Am I Ever Going To See Your Face Again’. It would be an overnight viral sensation for the game.

The biggest moment at the Golden Plains festival was the last song of Basement Jaxx - Where's your head at.

Crowd went absolutely bananas , and chanted the chorus, which is just perfect for crowd sing a long.

Would be an awesome choice for a song after a goal (assumng they played the chorus)

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
