Not having a go at you, but this confuses me a little bit. Why is winning the ball the main metric people use to define if a player is good or not?

It’s important for sure for a team perspective, but if you have more worth being on the outside and then disposing of the ball (Daicos is probably the best) why does it matter?

We won a F load of contested ball and couldn’t do anything with it.

It felt like the Saint came out "breathing fire" with a plan to keep the ball moving forward.

Was it too much adrenalin (noting the number of times they got in their own way), which is something that might easily be addressed in a week, or do they not have the skills to deliver this game plan (which cannot be fixed so quickly)?

The black and white team did well to stand back and wait for the poor/panicked ball to come to them.

I very quickly turned off the noise of the broadcast... was there much salivating around the "chaos ball", or has that been binned for the time being?

Train him to become a gun inside ball winner and he will. But why would you when he does so much damage on the loose?

People will find reasons to criticise N.Daicos because it’s so effing unpalatable that it’s Collingwood, and they had such a gift land on their lap.

He’ll be in the top couple of players in the comp for the next decade. Better get used to it.

Against a Collingwood side missing Moore and Howe, in the warmth of March, they kicked 9 goals.

I wasn’t a believer pre-season and I’m still not a believer now.

It’s kind of a spectrum imo

You need the right balance

I personally think Daicos is a bit off and I think if he even gets a few more hard ball gets, I think he could be even better. Ned long had 28 less touch’s and the same amounts of contested possessions

It’s totally a spectrum. But for every Daicos ball user, there’s 20-30 congested ball winners.

At one stage of the game he was up at half forward attacking, the attack was rebounded quickly down the other end of the ground which ended up with a dribbling shot at goal for the Saints and it was Daicos sliding on the goal line trying to get a hand on it. Freak.

It was very noticeable during the Game, how much the Umps put away the whistle. I liked it. It was Finals style. Let the Teams have a serious crack at the Ball.
I am wondering whether Greg Swan has had a chat with The Umpires.

Yeah noice. I’d exclude Brownlows personally as Tom Mitchell won that award and he isn’t a shoe shiner compared to Pendlebury. Bontompelli hasn’t won a Brownlow either so it’s a bit meaningless in the larger picture IMO.

The X factor is a good one. He might have more X factor. Danger definitely only needs a quarter to completely change a game.

And danger might’ve been quicker over 3 meters, but I’ve never seen a player like Pendles be able to evade players that are within a couple of meters from him whilst he’s standing still. He does it multiple time a game even now.
