The best full back clearly but Gary Hardeman was a better CHB although the positions have changed since the 1970's.

Gary also played on the ball & forward when the team needed that.

Second this sentiment.

Along with Hibbo, he was a huge contributor to us having a near impenetrable backline and a huge part of our premiership sucess.

I'm making no judgements on the personal circumstances in which have contributed to the way things have unfolded and understand the rationale that he and the club have applied in paying out his contract and retiring him from the list, but as a supporter, I'm bitterly disapointed in the way it has transpired and that he won't get a fitting send off game.

Had he been able to play this season, my assessment from afar was that, despite some high profile confrontational moments on and off feild Maysie was a highly compeditive beast, but also a solid team player and that though he might have been frustrated had he seen time playing twos, that he would have made good on being a great onfield mentor to our next generation of key backs.

I get that he'll probably get a lap of the G in the back of a car, but he deserved better as the warrior player he was in his time playing for the MFC.

Thanks for your contribution to the MFC and to the only premiership I've witnessed in some form in my lifetime Maysie.

Sadly he seemed mentally checked out at the end.

It's sad that May, like so many others from the premiership, aren't getting a proper farewell. He's been such a warrior for us, and it's sad he won't be chaired off the ground in front of the members.

Still he will always be the best defender I've seen us have at the club, without him we don't win the flag.

Whatever his personal issues are I hope he's able to work them out.

Let’s not be naive, May has behavioural issues with plenty of examples, part of culture issues! King & club drew a line on the sand! Was great defended no question and a premiership hero, but has let down he’s teammates, the club, such a sad end

Club has drawn a line in the sand, there are serious reasons why but all self inflicted, agree very sad but tougher decisions needed to be made going back to 22/23… instead of the circus interview on sen from Previous CEO & Coach, good on Kingy hold firm!

If a club didnt even want him at the end of last season when he was a free hit then they're definitely not going to need him now after his last incident at 34 years of age playing suburban football.

He'd be available on the mid season draft but he's finished GOTD.

don't think so, hes on our list still he's "inactive" until the end of the season, he could be signed as a DFA or SSP but not mid year
