Harvey Langford - 2025 Highlights

That was just the goals, his field kicking was off the charts. He surely goes into the midfield this year and will be much more damaging in his new role that suits him more. He is going to be a weapon.

Just the slightest of pangs seeing the delight on Clarry's face in that last sequence. And the team orientation of Trac in the earlier hand-off.

But Harvey's going to be part of what makes up for it in '26 and beyond.

Iโ€™ve had stocks on this kid since I saw his first highlights package in 2024

Heโ€™s as complete a midfielder Iโ€™ve seen come through the club since Clarry debuted in 2016, and I genuinely think he has the talent to be better

Heโ€™s going to put this club on his back for years and Iโ€™m so excited to see his development this year

No pressure for the kid

Like a lot of fellow Dlanders I was so rapt that Harvey Langford slipped through to us at No.6, the highlight package shows glimpses of just how good he is and what we can look forward to in the coming years, he will help fill the holes left in our midfield and as Ghostwriter mentioned he said that he is now 192cm. I have a similar vibe for Xavier Taylor something special about XT and another 192cm mobile defender to toughen up our back six.

If you watched those highlights you might be tricked into thinking that all we had as a tall, strong marking and accurate set shot forward with the situational awareness to also create opportunities in general play and who can quickly and accurately snap goals from anywhere up to 55m out.

Which is selling him a bit short, really.

He's so smart in general play between the arcs - has potential for Brayshaw level game sense.

Probably his best single attribute is being able to reliably send a very long kick forward with purpose instead of just banging it mindlessly.

Fabulous highlight reel - except for BTโ€™s repetitive ranting at the end

A massive talent with strength, awareness and skills. He will help lift the team far quicker than many expect.

Becoming my fave after Big Max.

Same the funny thing is I expected Langford to be the hard one and X to be the better kick.

Itโ€™s almost the opposite Iโ€™m not saying Langford is soft but he seems to be one of the most elite kicks Iโ€™ve seen and X puts his body on the line in every contest.

Xavier and Harvey both young and possibly elite footballers people forget they just got out of U18 football were they were outstanding, 2025 was a development year for both physically and mentally.

They have come thru the year well and 2026 will present new challangers when opposition coach try to stop their influence on the game particularly since we have exported 2 great players to their new clubs, time will tell whether Steven King got it right or terribly wrong.

My great hope he did not get it wrong and players who were on the cusp rise to the occasion and make a meaningful contribution towards a successful 2026.

Donโ€™t you hate it when commentators call every footballer a star? And a young up and comer, a superstar? Heโ€™s undoubtedly good, and with progress he will become a star. And hopefully superstar may follow.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

Itโ€™s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle โ€“ perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
