My mission should I accept it (and I will) is to find the answer to your question. ๐Ÿ˜

Thank you!

It would be a little concerning if the new CEO hinted at Hawkins coming in so obviously and for it not to happen. Also means thereโ€™s money left over for more assistance if Hawkins doesn't come to the club. (Hopefully it does though). Canโ€™t have enough football people, successful football people and successful, football and fresh out of the game people/assistants/players! image.png

Slightly off topic, it seems Viney is having a interrupted pre season. Maybe his body is cactus after years of bash and crash. A hard toiler for the club but suspect his impact is almost done and his disposal is woeful. Would not be relying on him for start of season.

Just love Viney but his contract extension was one of our dumbest ever decisions & it seemed to happen because at the time the Brains Trust (sic) was desperate for good news PR.

I thought it was because Jackโ€™s manager wanted to secure a great deal for Jack (as well as for himself) and did so by leading everyone to believe that there was a chance Jack may go to North.

It was a combination of both of those things, which doesn't make it any less dumb.

Geelong would have offered him two years maximum, but they also wouldn't have destroyed a premiership list within four years.

Should have called bluff and let him go, and I said so at the time!

Jack was never going anywhere. His manager just had people believe there was a possibility of him leaving.

Because Hardtack called me out on a typo and now Iโ€™ve forgotten all thatโ€™s good in the world.

So, rather appropriately for this time of the year, he had him away in a manger.

Yep, because the only reason the club makes multi-million dollar investments in players, or re-signs players or even signs players in the first place is for PR.

It doesnโ€™t take much to see that resigning for what it was; a puerile attempt from a desperate club trying to the move the needle.

It's mid December - give him some time before writing his 2026 season off

He is a seasoned professional missing some pre-xmas training runs isn't a big deal

Massive blunder by the club, he was showing signs of being cooked last year, now I can see him struggling to get on the park, might end up playing at Casey!

10th in the MFC B&F. 6th in Demonlands PotY.

I wish there was an eyeroll reaction.

If we're looking to show incremental improvement and use next season as a building block for success, Viney shouldn't be a walk up start by the end of next year. It would be somewhat disappointing if some of the younger brigade haven't pushed him out of the side.

Yeah I'm rolling mine now 10th?? In a terrible year is testimony to how dire we were and 6th in Demonlanders Poty is no ringing endoresement either. Lets revisit say half way through the season, I'm sure my opinion will be validated!

Have you ever had a positive opinion in 20 years? Even though you are on ignore, your half baked vitriol shines through. The only upside is that you must lead a very disappointing existence. This is a 1st for me to reply to someone Im studiously ignoring.

Go on, really? Just expressing my humble opinion, nar I don't have a disappointing existance at all, great professsional life, brilliant family and did I mention sensational sporting career?

Think fair to say Viney and Steele wonโ€™t be in together, Rivers would take one of those spots Iโ€™d think or maybe they throw some of the kids in.

Sure they wonโ€™t be in the guts at the same time, but will the extended interchange allow them to alternate?

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, weโ€™ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binmanโ€™s Stats Files. Not because it isnโ€™t important; quite the opposite. Itโ€™s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.
