Agree. Potentially that his floor isn’t as high as say Farrow who if nothing else is a good user. But I’d definitely want to snap him up if he gets to our pick

Yep Cal said that if Richmond want him he will be there later at pick 10 range which suggests he’ll get past us. Maybe we think we’ve already got that sort of player in Windsor, the dynamic speedy mid

Grlj is the biggest bust chance of all the mids, as exciting as his movement is if you watch most of his vision he does look pretty rushed at times

I strongly agree.

Seems to have great evasive skills but I don't see him using them to get into space and use the extra time to do something really creative.

interesting that Cal didn't name drop us with the dovaston links at the end, grjl and farrow is good but also theyre likely to play similar roles to begin with at HB rotating into CBs or exclusively at HB with riv and windsor exclusively in the guts

i've probably been too harsh on sharps prospects, but can see the bombers or even the eagles taking him anyway, would be interesting who falls out if the dons are as keen on cumming as expected and the eagles go with a mid at 2

For me the biggest red flag in Grlj would be that once he bulks up his explosiveness might take a hit, like Josh Sinn.

But JVR, Riv, Kolt, Kentfield, Adams and granted he was draft from SA, Kozi, all seem happy enough. JTs strategy to draft the best player usually works out. Turned 1 first rnd pick into 2 + a second rounder in LJ, and Judd a rookie into a second rounder. Farrow looks like he has a good head on his shoulders. Poise, class, good aerial game and decision making. Can win his own footy and physicality to go inside as well.

@Turner Grlj at 7, Josh Lindsay at 8. We instantly improve our pace & run, and instantly improve our half back distribution. We can use speed on the ball or creativity to move it. Does that align with the King philosophy? I would think so

Interesting call. I was enthusiastic about his evasive skills and speed but he does seem to get rushed. Maybe he puts himself in that position because he seems to double back a lot and cut through traffic. Not sure that will translate at AFL level immediately. Over time though you'd think he would learn to adapt to the pace of the game

Quite possibly. I like players with good sideways movement - I think it's extremely difficult to teach. You kind of either have it or you don't. And you might be right: the high-level skill itself will allow the FD to work with him and turn him into a more damaging player.

I could be totally wrong on Grjl (I'm as far from an Under 18 expert as you can be), but where others see attacking briliance, I see lots of movement and not a lot of crispness.

So today Cal said he thinks we will not trade, and will draft mids. He named 4 players he thinks we will choose from. They are not all mids (yet). I have put them in order from least likely to be available, to most likely to be available.

1. Robey

2. Taylor/Cumming (not sure who would be more likely to be available, they are too different)

3. Farrow

I would be happy with any of these scenarios.

Also, last week he mentioned Sharp being in the mix, but didn't today.

Last week he said we may go for needs (named Schubert and the Dove). This week he said we are going to stick to drafting mids. So he's obviously narrowing down the field of who we might take.
