I mean... A speedy line breaker who can also get into the packs happily when it is his turn to go, a powerful 'high impact' midfielder-forward with more pace than you'd expect, and a super-athletic tall winger with a bit of development to be done. We could do worse.

I guess this means Kalani White is the baked beans?

isn't sam allan like 182cm, so nearly the complete opposite of tall winger

Just a hunch of mine, but Iโ€™ve been doing my research on Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves. Seems a very handy player, given his utility status.

I like the look of him too Kolt, mentioned it in a previous post ๐Ÿ‘

Quite right - my bad. I guess a better description is 'marking' winger, in so far as he can take marks on leads and can jump ridonkulously for them too.

Of course, my Sam still hasn't cracked 70cm so they all seem pretty tall to me.

I find it very interesting in the November phantom form guide we arenโ€™t linked to Sharp, Grij or Schubert at this point in time. Cal is usually pretty spot on, even this early.

As to who we are linked to, we are named under Robey, Cumming, X Taylor, Farrow, Dovaston, Pickett and Nairn (Thatโ€™s 2 draft experts saying this now)

Linked with Dove and Pickett however Cal did caveat that our picks are most likely too early for either of them. Seems almost inevitable that weโ€™ll be picking from the other 5

I could be wrong but the only pick i would take dovaston at is pick 37

He is not a first round pick small forward

You are wrong.::

So piecing it together we can assume our draft board looks something like:

Duursma, CDT, Robey, Cumming, X Taylor, Farrow with Nairn in there somewhere. Dovaston, Pickett and others behind.

So ideally we need Grlj or someone else to go top 6 (excluding bids) to push another of our top prospects down.

We need to pray Richmond take Grij

As much as I like him itโ€™s clear weโ€™re not interested and that Richmond is the only club somewhat likely to pick him

In that scenario I think Taylor or Cummings slips to us (Robey wouldnโ€™t get past Essendon, and hopefully Essendon rates Sharp above Cumming)

Then we could take one of those two and then Farrow

GWS linked with both Grlj and Pickett so there may be upside if Richmond pass on Grlj and we get another pick in the teens.

Edit- add Nairm to the list of players GWS linked to. Caruso and Taylor always seem to like the same players.

I'd go as far as to say you can put a line through Dovaston.

Would love to see our draft boards compared to GWS over the years

We both have great taste ๐Ÿ˜…

Not just draft boards. There's been a fair bit of trade between the clubs, too.

Sounds that way but weโ€™ve been strongly linked to 5 guys, plus Duursma and CDT will be gone.

So if it does go Rich (Robey, Taylor) and Ess (Cumming, Farrow) thereโ€™s a question mark on who we pair with Nairn.

Obviously that is based on Twomeyโ€™s mail and Grlj and many others could jump up.

I still want a Grlj up.

My sense reading between the lines with Twomey its 2 of Robey, X Taylor, Cumming, Farrow and Nairn possibly in that order at 7&8. No mention of us with Grlj or Sharp.

would be interesting if taylor slides, im hoping cumming doesn't

eagles: duursma sharp/cdt

rich: robey/grjl cdt/taylor

ess: sharp cumming/robey

dees: taylor farrow/cumming

seems like how itll play out

Think itโ€™ll be

EAGLES Duursma CDT

RICH Robey / Taylor

ESS Sharp / Cumming

MELB Farrow / Nairn

I haven't listened to Gettable yet but was told Cal said Richmond and Essendon are likely not to pick Grjl and that if he gets to Melbourne's pick, he won't get any further. ie we will pick him.

I donโ€™t think thatโ€™s correct - I think it was that if Richmond donโ€™t pick him heโ€™s likely to slide past us and Essendon to around the Hawks pick or later

I'll be disappointed if we miss out on Robey, Cumming or Sharp as we really need to bolster our midfield stocks/depth. All three of those guys look ready to play and develop at senior level straight away.

I'm coming around to Farrow, though, as it would make sense fit-wise. Now that Judd has left and Rivers will move into more full-time midfield, we're a bit thin down back for medium defenders. Farrow looks solid down back with his intercept marking, smooth skills and potentially damaging ball use (needs to improve visions/decision making). He would hopefully follow Rivers' path of playing across half back and developing hopefully into a big-bodied midfielder.

Unfortunately we donโ€™t seem to be linked to Sharp, so hopefully goes before our pick, ideally to Essendon. Same with Grjl to Richmond.

Eagles: Duursma & CDT

Tigers: Robey & Grjl

Bombers: Cumming & Sharp

Demons: Taylor & Farrow

ย

Taylor has an unbelievable set of hands and strong IQ and body positioning. I wonder if heโ€™s ever been trialled up forward. Looks like a serious player.

Consistently bent over by them. I hate them

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.ย
