Pretty sure Oliver would have relayed to the Giants exactly what he was told by King and Co..

Pretty sure based on what we’ve now seen that Clarry has the perception, self awareness and communication ability of a two year old.

Who knows what he thinks he was told or what he relayed.

That's true. Taking constructive feedback on feedback on board doesn't seem to be in his vocabulary.

Good luck with that GWS!

Claz opening his mouth taking drive-by shots at MFC... talk about dumb and completely unprofessional. FCS he's getting paid about $1.5mill per year and this is how the child behaves. And he expects us to contribute $700k for him to play elsewhere. Has he not had media training en-masse? If I was GWS I'd be thinking this guy is a stupid loose cannon... what will he add to our culture if we can keep him focussed???

The absolute definition of 'cutting off his nose despite his face'

Great player when fit and the game plan suited his style. Premiership player, 4 x Bluey. Thanks for your very well paid service. Now, [censored] off!

His version... life as Clarry sees it.

Let's face it ....he's not good at seeing things as they might.

But in reality...it doesn't matter.

Let's put #13 aside for a year.

Clarry is showing his true, immature colours

Just cannot believe the number of so called supporters who have made such spiteful and demeaning comments of a champion footballer. They talk about him as if he was a mass murderer. Trust they will have blacked out his image on the pictures of our premiership team by now. Speaking of club culture it didn't do Richmond any harm when it won its multiple premierships.

I am one of Clarrie's greatest supporters. However knowing the extra care that was given to him not only by the Club but by specific players, I am just disappointed that he said what he said. I would have hoped that he may have shown a new found maturity and not blown the Club out of the water unlike Spargo who did not leave with burning bridges behind him.

I sincerely hope that he finds an answer to his mental demons, that he regains his previous skills and goes on to have a fulfilling career and life.

So it's a 'twist' is it, Tom?

Yep, that (at least) McKirdy and Ralph got it a coupla hours earlier.

Twist, Tom, twist

He’s twisted so much his head’s stuffed so far up his own backside he could give himself a post-match interview.

James is probably the most qualified person in the AFL echo chamber to call something “an absolute disaster.” Few can speak with such lived experience in… high-risk culture management. All happy dayz down at the Hangar since he left — trust rebuilt, reputations restored, and no one’s had to flush the evidence in years.

What’s that saying? ‘Beggars can’t be choosers’. If MFC are begging another team to take Oliver, then we have no right ask for a high price. Dumbest trading decision MFC will ever make.

I genuinely hope Clayton thrives in Sydney and absolutely rinses us in 2026.

Wow - the bar is pretty high at Melbourne in this domain. Not even close.

I just accept Clarry is off. Ita all about what we get and what we have accumulated at the end of the trade period.

Every night when I get home
I settle down to prime time limbo
When all the boys are gathered around
Shouting Ita'a on TV
And though the roaches are thick on the ground
Somebody goes to close my window
Keep the noise of the city down
Get a dose of integrity

Every week, in every home
She got wholesome news for the family
I believe, I believe, in what she says
Yes I do
I believe, I believe, at the end of the day
Her magazine'll get me through

Ita's tongue never touches her lips
She could always be my godmother
And though the desk-top hides her hips
My imagination's strong
She's the sweetest thing I've ever seen
I'd like to take her out to dinner
But when I think about the places I've been
I'd probably hold my fork all wrong

Every day and every night
She's the only one we can depend upon
I believe, I believe, in what she says
Yes I do
I believe, I believe, at the end of the day
Her magazine'll get me through
To every housewife through the land
There is no-one else they can depend upon
How could I not believe, when Ita tells me too

feel your pain Fence. I would have loved to attend his 300th as a 2 time prem player.

give it time

It'll be interesting to hear Max's views on all this at some stage, he (apparently) having taking Clayton 'under his(*) wing' during the latter's difficult times.

Surprise? Disappointment? Anger? Bemusement? You've got it all wrong, folks?

Absolutely zero chance of that. Most human's cannot do this - let alone a disgruntled player recovering from a severe reality adjustment.

We are not losing the star Oliver

We are losing Oliver who finished behind Chandler in the BnF. No offence to Kade, I love him.

The star Clarry is in the past. I have 100% confidence he won’t get near that form again.

I wish him well but i’m pumped we can have clear air with him gone

I would ask for pick 13 = 1080 points and maybe give them one if our 2nd rounders. Net points differential puts cost for GWS as a pick in the mid/late 20's.

Eg our pick 27 = 533 points.

Net cost to GWS = 547 points = pick 26/27.

Thank god ANY club wants him after being a train wreck in the public eye this week

I just want a deal done before he goes full nutso and we get nothing and have to pay his full salary

ps. I do wish the best for him and his mental health

For context and comparison. Pies gave up Adam Treloar and pick 26, 33 and 42 for 14 and a later 2nd rounder. Basically the pick points value evened themselves out.

Pies were rumoured to be paying 1/3 of his 900k salary. He was most definitely a stronger midfielder than what Oliver is now. I could see a deal be pretty similar. Actually turned out alright for both clubs.

I really don't think we've handled this one well.

If we did any of the leaking we really ballsed it up.

Jon conveniently forgets that no matter how well Stringer was firing up he didn't get the full final game, eh.

Ladies , Gentlemen and bald headed babies.

For yonks, indeed years beyond yonks we've collectively bemoaned the lack of Proper culture prevalent at our beloved Club.

Bad culture is like a cancer. It pervades, it reignites if you leave best practice unattended.

How do you remedy this. You cut out all the things, all the influences, all the malignancy that you see. It can be rugged, brutal indeed . To the untrained eye you might be forgiven for excising more than needed. To the trained eye you worry you might not have cut deep enough.

We're now instituting a new culture into the club. There will be collateral damage.

It's for the best.

It's not about where we might find ourselves today, a fortnight, month even a year. It's where we're heading.

Not all will make the journey.

Go Dees

As I said before, Richmond overcame bad culture issues and took out 2 premierships on the way. It is what happens on the playing field. Do you think Clarry was not embraced by his teammates? It struck me he was popular. Did he not put in full efforts when playing for the Demons?

Can confirm that our salary contribution for Clarry won’t be nearly as much as has been speculated.

We’re not going to get much in the way of picks. But it’s not the “double whammy” that’s been reported.

That seems more likely.

Giants are getting a star player, who is getting back to his good, maybe not best form.

They need him badly with Green nearly alone in the middle, with Kelly out for 2026 and Coniglio often out.

I wonder if we get a player who isn’t a regular like Gruzewski and a pick we can use to maybe get another player, like Rogers in Tracc deal for Humphrey.

How much we contribute could be a factor, but it would be extremely unlikely to be the rumoured amount. That was media speculation. Giants will also need some more cap room, with players coming in and I think only Aleer going that I know of atm, who isn’t on much with them and Ward retiring.

We have a good relationship with Giants and a deal will be done, as will Tracc deal with Suns most importantly with Humphrey becoming a Demon. I am now expecting that deal to be done well before next wednesday probably after both clubs posture for a straight swap.

I still think May will get done late, maybe to Roos for a nothing pick and us paying a small amount of his $800k to bring him down to say $600-700k for the one year left and maybe less if he signs for 2 years at less money.

I have warned to Steele and would be happy to get him in Heath deal with Saints contributing a bit like us with May. Steele would be good for a couple of years to help replace Tracc and Clarry’s midfield contested possession work and he would be a good mentor as a solid citizen.

Saying that some of our ex players have said some things, does remind us of Coach King's position of "delicately" burning his own bridges in the ugly business of player exits.

We shall be watching these two sided dismissals intently

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
