Unless I’m mistaken he has never actually said that. I’d love to coach Christian … I’ve got his back if he comes back … etc.

For me, he’s saying what he needs to as head coach and going out of his way not to burn bridges. Also talking the talk in the context of negotiations.

King:

“I’ve got his back around walking back into the club and playing great footy, and I’ll back him in“

… “Christian would be central to that. He’s still runner-up in our best and fairest and we all know the player Christian is. He’d be pivotal to those plans I’ve got.

“I respect his time and space, I’ll give him that, but he’d be a central part of what we’re doing moving forward.”

I don’t see how else this reads @bing181 ? King seems fine to have him back. Maybe even sees it a challenge. What coach wouldn’t want Trac in their side?

If the hold up is getting the artwork done for the announcement, I thought I would help them out:

(Hypothetically.) Didn't we pay for his forearms and hands as well? Do GC get to keep them?

New stuff, that gives you nothing new.

Melbourne still really want him, and not the picks. Gold Coast still really won't do it.

Its at a passè.

Who blinks first?

Your answer in another 25 pages.

Yes but where are your hands right now?

Gawd, I'll post it again!

Friday at 17:15

Carrryst it isn't that hard Dees this is what I would do

1 Give GCS Till Monday to offer us Bailey Humphry straight trade for C.P

2 If they refuse then leave the meeting saying that we will NO LONGER DEAL with them over C.P

3 Start contacting other clubs and find out what is on offer

4 GCS will SHHHHHHEEEIT the bed and panic

5 Bailey Humphry becomes ours and if they don't do it C.P Stays

6 C.P GETS Back to GC and beseeches them to do the deal.

7 G.C Fold

NOW THAT IS AGGRESSIVE TAKE NO SHEEEIT NEGOTIATION!

When do I start???

Agree, do we have the guts to do this though? Personally, I’m not sure that we do. If we do, we need to do it quickly.

This thread has slowed down now we’ve all finished work for the day 😂

its the only leverage we have so we have to use it

My understanding is that our new coach has stated clearly, he'd be very happy to have the pretend chef suit up for us in 2026

If we are to take the comments of random posters with a grain of salt, we should take the comments of MFC officials in trade week with a large chunk.

Consider the counterfactual, if King or any MFC offical said "we are determine that Trac will not play for MFC in 2026 under any circumstances" we've destroyed our ability to negotiate a fair trade.

Therefore, whether we want Trac at MFC or not, the only public comment prior to a trade being negotiated will be that we do.

I found a crisp $5 note on the ground today. BH5? 🤭 THE SIGNS ARE THERE!!

… and realised old mate ain’t coming, despite the optimistic intel out of barbieleaks

Ok according to my deadline, ring the GCS and give them till 12. midnight to hand over B.H OR DON'T BOTHER COMING BACK TO US TOMMORROW CAUSE THE DEALS OFF AND C.P PLAYS AT DEES IN 2026!

I think the only smoke to this BBQ is on demonland, painfully listening to trade radio/SEN for the last 10 hours and no mention of Humphrey today, just the Dee's getting bent over to make the sun's a genuine competitor next season is about that's been said. Hoping the intel on demonland is quietly correct, but with just over 48 hrs left to get it done, I can't see it happening 😫

Interesting to see where this goes - there's a lot of info but things aren't playing out too quickly.

Paging any more info

I’m once again posting to say it’s over

I love a good leak as much as the next person - and in fact I don’t doubt the info that’s been provided by Demon Forever - but this late in the game there’s no way someone like Twomey isn’t across it if Humphrey has changed managers/will request a trade

At post 3000 Bailey Humphrey personally hands out sausage sangas to everyone who participated, and that's even if he doesn't come to the Demons.

I dare anyone to ask for the sauce.

It’s not. It’s BS

That’s because these two clowns are either full of BS or were being fed BS.

But at least we were entertained by their BS hey.

It’s not a hostage situation

“King gets it, you don’t rebuild by cutting out your heart. Trac’s the pulse of the side, and any real leader knows you work with that energy, not against it!

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
