I hope not rpfc he is going to be weapon for us sometime in the future, just like the rest of the kids that we recruited. I just hope that he gets a good run at it.

Is it just the photos or is he skinny. The photos of him I have seen makes me wonder if he is up to the rough and tumble of senior level. He looks the skinniest kid to suit up since Tulip. We have to trust the Brains trust at the selection table. But gee it looks a tough job for a skinny kid in his first game against the best team in the competition.

We know the Lions won't be playing a 7 man forward line so XT could just occupy an area in the backline

There will be growing pains this year (last week, Freo). This will be a baptism of fire against the double premier, but if he does well, it'll expedite our development markedly.

I'll back our development team in to prepare him and scaffold him this year. But the sooner (the better) we can see a settled backline of:

AMW Turner XT

Bowey xxxxPetty? Lever

I think we are missing another kicker or two too. XL is filling the role this year and learning the defensive elements of the game, but we need a lethal kick back there. I want XL onto the wing ASAP, so if we can fill that need and allow XL to move further up the ground next year that'd be ideal.

XT's speedy development could transform our back half though with his agility and offensive capabilities.

But against the best team in the comp! I could understand it against Richmond the following week. I fear he will be crushed by the lions, they take no prisoners. We have in the past played players before their time e.g. Watts. he will have gone from under 18s to AFL seniors after a couple of games for Casey. It seems to suggest he is a player in the top 5%.

Ok, so play him as a loose man in defence. An interceptor for ground balls or marks

Help out his fellow accountable defenders in a double-team role

A bit like how Bowey plays

A lot of teams play a 7 man backline these days (after 666) ... or have at least 7 defenders in the rotations

Which means that 1 or 2 defenders often don't have direct opponents

It's why we see so many interceptions in the backlines these days

Yeah, nah. I reckon his debut had to happen this week against the best.

He'll know what level he needs to get to, as opposed to debuting against a less experienced Tigers opponent if he were to be held back another week.

Delayed further, then the Swans at home, with a fairly strong fwd line, would similarly be a baptism of fire.

If he's given a few weeks to earn his spot it may be hard, easy, hard, easy.

XT's debut has been thought out.
