There are some challengers, but barring circumstances that don't bear thinking about, Kate will be the first Demon to 100 goals given she leads Harris on 70 goals (9th all-time) and Zanker on 66 (12th).

Is it time to start planning a celebratory pitch invasion? A big game this week could get her there, but more likely would be away at Freo in Round 9 (disappointing) or at home at Casey in Round 10 (bring back the helicopter, fill with streamers, allow for wind, press the release button at the right moment). Or beyond?

Tomorrow night, Kate. Get it done! Get her there, girls (but win first!)

Wanna see it, live.

Finally a game in Melbourne!

Nice day tomorrow - get down there!

Dees playing great footy

You had me at “pitch invasion.” We SO have to do this should she kick her 100th. Surely they can’t fine us if we’re all out there at the same time. 😁

️GAMEDAY!

Back to our favourite venue tonight… Ikon Park! The players are pumped for tonight and they’re not the only ones 👊🏼

In this game last season we were slaughtered. An abomination of a match, and although 12 months have passed the memories are still painful and the desire for revenge is real. Absolutely [censored] real.

PLEASE if you can, get over to Ikon tonight and watch a formidable force in our W side comprehensively dismantle the team that humiliated us at their POS home ground last year.

[censored] how I hate Essendon.

Speaking of venues, I’m a little annoyed by Garry Lyon’s interview of King on SEN yesterday wherein he mentioned tonight’s match and told folks to come and support the team… at Casey Fields. I’ve had several people messaging or calling me confused as to which is the correct venue.

Before anyone says yeah but that won’t really affect crowd size, please remember that W attendance is poor as it is. We need every single attendee we can get.

Anyways…

The Mighty Dees by Captain Kate (10) + the number of goals she’ll kick tonight (5) + my girl LJ33 (33) + five Tylas because sometimes it feels like there’s five of her out there (25) = 73 points 😁

Will the GM be mixing with the fans tonight?

I'm interested 'Ghosty'...

Just watched much of the second half of Hawks vs Freo. Umpiring was disgraceful. Makes it so hard to enjoy watching a game as a neutral #freekickhawthorn

The last 3 mins of our game against the pies was the worst. something like 6 frees awarded to the pies

ALFW umpiring is ridiculously bad

You know, I was disappointed the GM, nor the CEO, were present at the Casey B&F last night, but I guess I understand their absence. The VFL and VFLW players deserved a night recognising and celebrating their achievements without distraction.

Should they not attend tonight their absence will be felt more intensely because they’ve been at the W matches every week up until now and recent events involving the men’s team doesn’t change the fact that the W need their support.

If they do attend tonight I doubt they’ll be mixing with the hoi polloi. 😅 Rather, they’ll watch from behind the safety of the tinted windows of the huge ugly CFC building.

One regular W attendee who I reckon will choose not to be there tonight is Judd, for obvious reasons

To be fair, I’m quite sure Lyon made a correction about the venue in the segment after the King interview.

Nah definitely wouldn’t do that. I’m not angry at him.

Clearly not everyone continued listening once the interview was done.

True. I have it on as background noise at work, I’m certain he corrected it.

Anyway, I’m spewing I can’t take my daughters tonight due to mitigating circumstances 😫

But hopefully I’ll be watching live on the telly.

CARNAFCKNDEEGRRRRLS!!! ❤️💙

It's the CEO I meant & I hope he's not going to hide away behind the glass.

Interested to see.

Remember Jim Stynes when he was crook, sitting in the crowd behind the goals with Mr. Wonaeamirri. That was brilliant

How did this slip off the main board?!

Must be an unusually consuming post-men's!

Anyways, beautiful night for footy here. Hope it's a beautiful night of footy, too. My last 2 times here were straight-sets sadness...

We haven't played anyone in the top 8 other than West coast who are 8th

We have had the softest of soft fixtures this year

makes up for being shafted every other year

good start

2 marks 2 goals harris and gall

Seems to be rule of the week...they were red hot last night as well.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
