If Bailey Smith does win it, it will accelerate the rate of the Brownlow’s slide down the respect ladder at the speed of light.

[censored] on Ghosty - who respects it now? It’s the Logies for midfielders. Kick ten, save a game, dominate the ruck? Invisible. Rack up 35 sideways handballs? Congratulations, here’s your medal.

Gary Lyon barred-up after his goal. Said he'd now legit earned the right to be called the wizard. Have never taken him seriously as a footy analyst. This just confirmed it.

Outrageous, I can't stand how that moniker has been stolen from Jeff Farmer! Another peeve is calling Jeremy Cameron "Jezza" ... there can only be one "Jezza" ... farken! 😡

How’d you find the Northcote Theatre? I find the stage too small, but it might have been great for a sweaty punk gig.

I saw The Damned at Northcote Theatre a year or 2 ago. Don't love the venue.

How is Gunston only 33? I swear he’s been playing since Jesus was an apprentice carpenter

Can you imagine the call out charges back then? "I'm on my way. I'll just load up my donkey. See you Thursday".

Calls the customer on the Wednesday: "Sorry, it'll be Thursday week. Had a stopover in Cana".

THE AFL AND THE MEDIA ALL LOVE

GEELONG 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

COLLINGWOOD 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

HAWTHORN🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

BRISBANE 🤮🤮🤮🤮

I HATE THEM ALL… TOTALLY HATE

I DONT WANT TO SEE ANY OF THEM WIN IT

THEY ARE ALL SO SO ARROGANT !!

(I guess that’s from continued success!)

Probably only give the Lions a 4-spew rating as Chris Fagan is a genuinely good guy.

As much as I can't stand Geelong, christ almighty they are the epitomy of a classy, professional and well run club.

I wouldn't want to play them next week...

What’s stopping you?

Besides, any team would be this great with Geelong’s manipulated, magical, mysterious salary cap goings-on.

Nailed it Ghosty. Handed multiple freebees over a generation.

Trac and Oliver are just as good as danger and Gawn is significantly better than biclavs. King should be salivating at this

Trac & Oliver shouldn't be at that level, but they are no where near it. Trac hasn't been up there since 21. Trac couldn't even hit 10 metre hand passes. Danger does not waste a possession & Oliver just gets the ball & and kicks it usually to nothing. Plus, nothing don't consistently kick goals.

I’m in the good books. Managed to get my Pies husband a ticket for tonight’s game. I’m planning a long hot bath, into bed early and binging Netflix. Zero care factor about tonight

i don't mind the northcote theatre

it's like a temu forum

my biggest complaint is that it's a bit 'boomy' as a room

Yes, thought it was like a smaller, less elaborate version of the venerable old Forum. Ladt gig I saw at the Forum was the Jesus and Mary Chain. I think the acoustics are better at the Forum. The Northcote Theatre is still a decent venue though. My first time there. Usually in that part of town I seem to end up at gigs at The Croxton.

In the past 14 yrs the Dees have played in 2 prelims , 2 straight sets exits & 1 flag

Coaches x 4 onto our 5th

More disappointing?

of course that’s worse. duh

i was just wondering how cats fans felt if being so close so many years and not winning

Yes, Croxton is OK. I also like the Corner Hotel ... last couple of gigs I saw there were Todd Rundgren and Thirsty Merc.

Brunswick Ballroom is a good venue.

1 I appreciate what Geelong have been able to do, if you supported them you would have been pretty happy!

2 You then suggested why don't I join them, um yeah right, read statement 1

3 I suggested you are displaying a sour grapes attitude to Geelongs win AND you inferincing salary cap yadda yadda REEKS of rumour and inuendo.

4 Yes I DO know what sour grapes are, so Ghosty I hope you followed my recommendations. Now I hope I have explained procedings and thought processes clearly and by the way...

Cracking win by the Cats last night do you not agree???

An incredible win by the Cats.

But not surprising at all when you factor in their fixture (12 games at home), their ground (weird-shaped and nobody else gets to train on it), their kick-arze facilities ($ was never a problem) and call it conspiratorial, but their ability and wherewithal to get superstars without breaching the soft cap restraints.

They couldn’t fail if they tried.

Love the Corner Hotel, been there for many gigs and plenty of pre footy beers as well 👍👍 Never been to the B'wick Ballroom though. Did go to The Bendigo Hotel in C'Wood [imaginary spit on the ground uttering those words, lol] a few weeks ago to catch the Cosmic Psychos, the Bendi is better since the new owners took over, great beer selection in the front bar 🍺😃

Despite all the speculation that goes on around here - you're still my favourite Ghosty.

Thanks QD but I really don’t think I’ll poll well in the Brownlow this year for several reasons: I’m up against Naicos, the umps don’t like Melbourne, and I’ve never played a game of footy in my life.

I’m curious as to what word has been censored here. None of the regulation 4-letter blasphemies would make sense

🤷‍♀️

It was the footy result I wanted, but not the MFC result I wanted....

Nah, I think your maths are a bit out their old Dub. Flags in 2009, 2011 & 2022 - that's three flags in 14 years and if you go back one further to 2007 it's four in 15 years.

I'd definitely take that.

...the 20 odd years prior to 2007 might have been pretty heart breaking though, but we know all about that.

14 years including this season is back to 2012. So 1 flag in that time

selective stats from me but looking at them post the golden era

amazingly successful team but for the amount of prelims you’d imagine more flags

Go Brisbane today. You have no idea what beating Collingwood will do for our city today.

We can't go through a week of hearing about Collingwood in a gf, let alone if they actually win it.

You have 1 job. Make the pies fans & players miserable today

my cats tragic friends before last night said that they don't rate scott coach wise. Mainly about the 1 flag after around 9 prelims. They attribute 2011 as absolutely due to bomber and Jimmy bartel.

With the clubs advantages they just feel let down most years.

There are multiple ways to spell some words. For example: “This week’s test will come in the back half.”

scott is a fantastic coach. we wouldn't be languishing in the bottom half if he was in charge

they probably won't appreciate him until he's gone and he's replaced by a mediocre coach

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
