Favourite ND moments.

I thought we might get a bit of an appreciation thread for the Reverend.

My favourite monent is the one that has been getting a bit of a run in all the news grabs tonight. It was after we beat the Bulldogs in that game a couple of years ago to get us into the finals and Neil game charging down the race showing us all the passion he had for the Red & Blue. I think that will definitely be a lasting memory for me of all his time at the club.

Also on a broader scale, was the way ND changed his persona to "The Reverend"over the last few years. He is hard man to dislike.

He has always had the best interests of our club at heart. No one can deny that he is a good bloke and he has certainly had to deal with the up and downs associated with life at a footy club. In another post someone has mentioned the salary cap, inadequate training facilities, blah blah blah but I would also like people to remember the way he conducted himself and led our boys in the wake of the Troy Broadbridge disaster. Speaking at the cricket match against the magpies, the way the players approached that memorable game against Essendon and I am sure the way he handled himself and the group behind closed doors.....

Neale is a man of great character and if each player on our list can grab some of that from him before he leaves the rooms on Friday night, our club will be the better for it.

Good luck Neale and thanks for so many great memories.

Must have 1998 or 2000 when we began to seroulsy challenge some clubs...it was a friday night match at the G and we owned the last quarter and ND got all involved with the win - players, trainers, coaches - into a circle in front of the members and sang one of my most memorable renditions of a grand old flag.

2000 Qualifying Final vs Carlton. No-one gave us a chance in hell. Brad Green cut loose in the last quarter and hasn't been the same since. Daniher's passion in the aftermath of that game is unparrelled. We were an awesome team that year. If it had been any other year we would have won the flag but that Essendon team was the best team I have seen in a single year ever. Shame, because we were bloody good.

I loved all his speeches he made at family days, best and fairest nights I always left feeling pumped. He loved the club so much. Loved when we knocked over geelong by 1 point at skilled, loved all his reactions in the coaches box, I loved it when we beat the bulldogs and he ran down down the stairs celebrating then hugged everyone and his sense of humour.

Loved 2000 when we beat carlton and it was great how he handled the 2002 bali bombings with arma and febes and with the Troy Broadbridge tragedy. I'm sure there are many more but can't think of them.

agree with the statement above.

Loved listening to him spruik the club.

Esp. in the media where he used his dry sense humour to his advantage.

Good luck!

It'll be interesting to see how the playas respond after they win the match. Can't hi five, celebrate with hugs as they should know full well, they are 'partially' the reason why ND's gone.

Winning down at Geelong was a good moment.

Actually, Daniher as a person is pretty difficult to dislike, every time he's interviewed it normally pretty entertaining.

In the rooms after the Geelong game two years ago (Robbo's day out) I had the Melbourne jumper on and he run up to me and gave me the hardest hand shake and pat on the back i have ever had.

Liked watching all his reactions in the box... could make a Dvd.. The bulldogs fianl was super... Loved when he was on "Before the Game" cracked me up...

Wish danners the world of good... truly loved the club.. Hopefully he has a plan B for this 1..

Nealey was a great coach for us at different times - turned us into a very good team. If Todd Viney was at the beginning of his career rather than the end with ND, we would have won many more games and possibly a flag. We have just not had anyone since Todd (Brock will be the one however) who can put their hand up at a centre bounce and do what ever it takes to get the ball after the opposition has kicked 3 goals in a row. May have helped stopped some of those losing rolls we get on.

Favourite moments:

1. Having a [censored] with him after a great SCG victory in the pub over the road in '98 I think. 'Great win' I said. 'Yeah, wasn't bad' was his laconic reply with trademark massive grin.

2. Testra Stadium (in '04 or '05) when Junior looked like he might have hurt his knee, and ND went straight to the rooms after the game before running back out and sticking his thumb up at the camera mouthing 'he's alright'.

Congratulations to Neale and thanks for taking great care of our club both on and off the field for the past 10 years. He is a very fine man.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
