Not sure there would be a job ad as such but everyone in the industry know we need a coach so if u r interested then u should pic up the old phone and make contact.

Agree. And out of interest, who would you say you want to talk to?

I’m sure his manager would have the details of who to contact.

My inside knowledge says @picket fence keeps on running out of data on his WhatsApp atm. It’s seems he has been blocked

For a start, they're not my stats! Secondly, they kicked three goals in just over four minutes in the first... take that out and 'my stats' would look even better!

It's useless trying to massage stats to make yourself feel better about where the team is at but whatever floats your boat I guess.

100% - ridiculous to suggest they put the cue in the rack.

Gunston was asked about the importance of percentage in his post match, on ground interview and he said they we're aware of the importance of maximising percentage in terms of their final ladder position

(they are on outside chance of finishing top 4 - if they do it will be on percentage. And if they don't percentage might be the difference between playing a home elimination final at the G or an interstate elimination final).

Of course percentage is important but fair to say the heat was well and truly out of the game. Anyone watching the game could see we never threatened and it all came down to our absolute garbage disposal, setup and forward 50 entries.

I'm not sure what the point of this "we matched them after quarter time" argument is; we were putrid, they weren't much better but had more polish and so put the score on the board when it mattered. With 4 minutes left in the game we were down by 9 goals.

Same supporters that remind me of Goodwin's "we had good moments in the last quarter" comment against St Kilda.

Delusional.

Hawthorn took the foot off the pedal because it was a dead rubber game and went into conservative mode just to get by and gear up for next week.

So he is interested in being our coach IF WE REACH OUT TO HIM.

I’m sorry but I am obviously old school because when I was interested in a job I WOULD APPLY NOT EXPECT THEM TO REACH OUT TO ME.

WTF is wrong with people. [censored].

No thanks move on.

Bro. They know that the club has the power. It would look weak to go to a club and especially look silly if they weren’t interested in you at all.

this isn’t applying for McDonald’s or to work in retail…

Do you think that they actually have people approach them when they are one of 19 employers who can offer this type of role.. cmon now..

Exactly. Percentage is irrelevant to their top 4 aspirations as well. If they beat Brisbane they are top 4, if they lose they're not. So not sure where this "they needed percentage" argument is coming from.

As much as I hate to say it but any-one who takes this perennial basket case on is either desperate or stupid.
Possibly both.

There's something rotten with this club and stuffed if I know what it is.

Nothing of Buckleys game plan from his time at Collingwood gives me confidence. His game plan back then will be worse than goodwins if implemented. I’m also wary of coaches being able to change much. Stay away from Nathan. Concerning signs

Because that was what the game style then was, and things have changed. Goodwin had his chance to change in 22 onwards and didn't, and now we see his end product. Whoever comes in, I hope they make the changes to suit the modern game and bring in people who will develop the younger players.

Hawthorn is 122.7

Collingwood is better at 123.1

If both teams win by a similar margin next week Collingwood gets to stay home and play Geelong while Hawthorn goes off to Adelaide. Surely "any top 4 will do" is BS.

On top of that Brisbane could easily beat Hawthorn and teams below the Hawks might overtake them. Hawthorn very easily could end up interstate in week 1 and be eliminated that early.

Didyou even look at the ladder?

Quite simply it comes from a position of trying to suggest we're better than we really are.

"Oh look , we kicked a few , ain't we grand !!" Not nearly as bad as those narky negative Nancies !! No no no... still life in the dead horse yet by gum !!

We're in reality neither better nor worse than we actually are. ( I know what you're all thinking, Nobel prize thinking right there 😉 ) and what we are is a bog ordinary lower ladder team that occasionally finds a gear.

But to some we're Super-Demons , leaping tall buildings and thwarting finals teams.. muwahaha !!

Dear Doctor some just can't let go of where they've been these past years... Delusionville !!

I thought Hawks did need to keep trying because of a small percentage gap. (I haven't followed what's what in the finals rankings, but I thought one of the commentators mentioned their percentage as being significant).

Those three late goals dropped Hawthorn below where finished up after their Adelaide game. Mitchell would be furious if that had been the final round.

Bucks was at the Pies for what, 24 years and never won a flag. And that’s Despite taking over a premiership team as coach

I think he is a decent choice but he hasn’t proven himself a winner yet.

24 years?! If you're including as a player and assistant coach doesn't that mean he won on 2010?

The argument was they needed percentage to finish top 4 which is incorrect. If the Hawks beat the Lions they finish top 4 and get the double chance. Lose and they don't. Percentage is irrelevant to that.

Had Collingwood won on Saturday night Geelong may have been in 1st and Adelaide 2nd. So this talk about home final is grasping at best. Hawks destiny is in their own hands now as it relates to the double chance, and all this grasping at straws to try and justify why our performance in the last 4 minutes was commendable is laughable. We were pathetic on the weekend, that's the end of the story.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
