You’ve given two players a positive review (of sorts) and yet we had two players less for most of the game and went down by four goals. Genuinely clueless assessments

Bizarre take, unless you’re into participation medals.

No, I'm into a bit of logic. You should try it.

If 20 or so players are deemed hopeless, heartless, past it or disinterested, it's impossible for them to lose by 4 goals.

If you agree with all of those half - baked assessments, do yourself a favour and don't follow the team at all.

The fact you unironically and legitimately espoused the old “supporters support” line, says enough.

A whole lot of babble which means nothing.

Ok, did you think Trent Rivers looked disinterested?

Umpires - doing HQs job

oh that ol' chestnut - never seen an umpire take a kick for a player and then miss the teammate or goal.

This. Thank you @Anti Saint. Could it be that we are a below average side?

Well if I were paid more to produce this thread each week then perhaps I’d present more positive reviews.

come on Joe

many of us love to look at your words - we all do it For the Love of The Dees.

And your words stir us up too.

We are bleedeeing Red n Blue in June - can't believe our season ova and winter only one-month old!

absolutely - we are down the bottom as we have experienced The Premiership Effect, ie, you win a flag and you get cache, as you should.

But, we are gone.

Now, it's time for change (Gough Whitlam said that of the loooong-term Liberals).

While I am on the quotes - "The harder you work, the luckier you get," said Thomas Jefferson.

We are not working hard enough in many facets on and off the field.

I read Joeboy for a laugh. This kind of wrong-but-bold commentary is often more entertaining than accurate analysis. There’s something delightfully absurd about reducing a players whole game to three words — especially when it's generally hilariously off the mark.

I was literally out in the bush today and neither heard nor saw the game ( just as well it seems).

I always read this thread and appreciate Joeboy being prepared to put it out there, as they say.

However, @Return to Glory is consistently an insightful and knowledgable poster whose view should be respected.

Interesting debate.

@joeboy I should also add that I read your 3 word analysis regularly and do enjoy your work. We all get frustrated with losing and I am no different

Harsh in Lindsay. No growth on a young man who had a limited pre-season is not fair. He was not seen today, but his growth has been impressive.

Salem - runs on a treadmill.

I think demonland has been harsh on Viney I thought along with Gawn, Melksham and Pickett got us back in the game The rest need a good hard look at themselves.

Can anyone explain what in the world Sparrow’s role is? He’s never looked so poor. I’d take a meat pie and stale chips over Sparrow lately.

My thoughts exactly Unc.

I thought Joeboy wasn't far off with his assessment and at first couldn't imagine people could even have 6 players in the votes thread but Return to Glory's post did deviate my thinking slightly on how I evaluated the performances.

It's ok to have stances questioned, anyone who does it respectfully doesn't demand that you change it. I think it can be confusing because so many people on here don't do that and gaslight you if your take differs slightly to theirs. Appreciate both Joeboy's and RFG's contributions.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
