But Rowell not forced off for a HIA check

Which will help his cause, but that is textbook dangerous tackle. He did exactly what you’re not supposed to do and slam him into the ground and his head hits the turf.

Hopefully he gets off or maybe just one week.

I would love to be proved wrong, but it's nearly time to acknowledge that:

  1. Drafting Tholstrup was a mistake.

  2. Neither JVR nor Jefferson will ever become the dominant key forward we desperately need.

Why does Trac snap for goal from 30 when he is the worst snap in our team?

Just handball it off Trac.

momentum killer

Gold Coast's pressure has been elite the whole game. Hopefully they have a bit of a drop off.

It has been but it was matched only by our lack of it in the first.

Good to see a fightback when the game was almost over.

I do wonder why in so many games this year we have been caught napping in the start.

Game prep not up to par.

How does Max play as a lone ruckman for the reminder of the game?

God help the coaches if he gets injured.

And what's he doing before the game to motivate his team to switch on? What's he doing during the week. We all love Max but he has been captain the entire time we've nosedived since 2023. "Trying his heart out" is for followers, not leaders.

Max is a fantastic leader of our club. He has been forced to bunker down for our club when the 💩 was hitting the fan. Still is and will always be doing so.

If Max is your point of reference for that first quarter, I suggest you look to others.

So the two main themes by the majority on here were

Petty is a disgrace and should be dropped

Bring in Jefferson he is dominating at Casey

Should we start a poll on who to bag for the upcoming week?

Max has improved his goal kicking which leaves Tracc with the title of the teams worst shot at goal. In all areas. Lucky we don't play him fwd too often.

He was also captain the entire time we’ve been good, and I don’t think we have a slow start problem as much as a not very good problem.

We get caught out early as times because we’re slow and unathletic, leadership can’t fix that

Didn’t think his head hit the ground but watch this space

Rowell and Miller have DOUBLE the disposal efficiency of Trac

not just kicking efficiency, handballing as well

He has gone backwards

Replay showed his head bounces off the ground.

I hope he doesn’t get suspended of course, but I’d be shocked if it doesn’t get looked at

2nd

👍🏻kozzzy at the footy

👍🏻Melksham goals

👍🏻Viney inside contest

👍🏻big Maxy battling

☠️umps are killing us Frees 15-9 (7-7 in 2nd)

☠️Trac airball from 25 metrs out after great team run and handball

☠️Salem is lost and is too slow

inside 50s 10-10 in 2nd qtr

Team HAS THE STOP THE GRASS GUARDING - noble and Rioli have time to dissect it and hit targets !

Jeffo looks lost - watching it live and he’s not instinctive - just reactive to the kick - needs the aggro pills desperately

It looked aggressive when the rest of the team were extremely passive.

it’s 100% a suspension for Viney

1 week if no concussion

3 if concussion

loved his aggression but when overboard

I agree with point two, not one. Tholstrup shows signs of being quite good, but the other two you mentioned just can’t figure it out.

These guys are not fit enough

Whatever the fitness program is, it’s not nearly good enough

Mind & Body

We need a new Fitness Team as well as many other things!

I love him too, but people are too easy on Gawn as a leader. They're much happier to criticise Petracca or Oliver or Goodwin (who of course all should bear the responsibility too). Gawn is such a good bloke and great player that it's not possible for most people to actually consider that he isn't perfect, especially as an on-field leader.

That's a great look, Chaplin talking to the forwards & fritta sitting there yawning playing with his hair

If ever a senior player needed to be dropped to Casey and made to the earn a recall…

Gawn is not perfect Chook. 3 goals 13 behinds this year says it so.

But, he is damn good/great

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
