The problem with trading is the stockpile of players who have passed their "use-by", the hard core of old faves which Neale has clung onto and were to be basis of a Premiership side. There's nothing much of value to bring to the table which isn't going to damage our immediate prospects. I'd go the youth policy right now instead of trying to eke wins here and there out of players on the other side of the bell-curve.

You wont get a cracker for either Miller or Yze.

I'm not so sure. Miller would be worth at least a Catherine Wheel and Yze should be good for a packet of Sparklers.

What are we trading for?

Draft picks, if your trading from draft picks you want first and second round picks, do we have any players on our list that we are wiling to give up for those picks. I think a club might give up a second round pick for Jamar, Richmond/Carlton and a few others need a ruck we might get lucky. Players on our list that might get you a top 10 pick- Mclean, Sylvia, Johnstone, Bate, Bruce, Rivers Davey Robbo. Of them are we wiling to give any up? Next 10-30 range players like Green, Bell, Jamar, Dunn, PJ, Jones and from there on I don't think we have much else to offer maybe Miller if we can get lucky.

For a play depends on the player, Judd I'd give up TJ and second round pick, I would go after Warnock at the Dockers or Murphy that will cost a player like CJ Wheatley, Jamar and mabe a 2nd or third pick.

One thing is for sure we will not win a flag with Holland, Ward, Brown, Ferguson, Biz and Godfrey(he has been great this year but his skills are not AFL standard) on our list.

My untouchables are McLean, Rivers, Sylvia, Bate and Davey.

Take anyone else.

I concur with the above untouchables but will add Bell, Jonsey, White, Moloney, PJ, robbo, ricky Bobby to the list...

Im prepared to give Greenie another chance aqs long as he plays courageous footy...

Basically try to get something for Yze

keep Bruce unless someone offers us two first rounders.

Trade Miller but remember kpp are valuable and should not be traded for nothing.

Trade Dunn

Trade Jamar

Trade CJ unless he shows he can actually perform at the highest level

Trade wheatley, Godfrey, holland if anyone wanted them.

Well he is an on-baller! BTW he played all those positions ineffectively and drop punts at goal from the boundary line, deep in the pocket on your wrong side are low percentage. Even Richo would have known to go the Banana for that one.

terrible post...

on ballers are CHB ? are FF? and play in the middle no dip [censored]... it means they follow the ball

bannana is never considered a high % kick

BECAUSE IT IS KICKED a low % of the time

"Basically try to get something for Yze"

My nephew lives a couple of doors down from Yzes manager. He told me at the start of the year that Yze told his manager that this would be his last year. Forget trade value.

Bruce has to go. He's been given too many chances and I just don't care for him anymore.

What do you mean 'too many chances'? Almost every week he is our BEST player running his guts out for the team. GET REAL! Maybe delist yourself . The Eagles maybe? They keep on winning!

who to trade

Danners

Yze

They are my definites. But yes Its time to rebuild.

20 yrs ago we had a club at the forefront of lateral thinking. We turned an Irishman into a star. Our current coach seems unable get the best out of "a born to be footballler" like Mclean and has sent a fiery, unlearned thoroughbread like Miller to the scrapheap. The latter for me the more frustrating to the point of utter confusion.Miller plays as if he is suffering similar befuddlement.Trade no .Sack yes.

Give us Nathan Buckley in our coachs box, whatever the cost. His precosity as a coach and level of respect is so high now it has made me forget how much I despised him. A fair achievement condidering I hated his guts.If Collingwood baulk and keep Buckley in any coaching capacity grab Malthouse. If he sees Bucks along side him in the box he will gather his departure is inevitable.

Buckley suffers no fools and still holds his judgements with a fair amount of circumspect. He knows the game better than anyone and would walk through our doors carrying that great mix of scary ,raw icentive and respect.

Malthouse brings with him a past which includes 2 premierships with one club and a resume at Collingwood of competing. He created a team that could mix it with perhaps afls greatest ever team in Brisbane .He did this with a far inferior list.

Malthouse now seems to be creating a team capable of leaving a positive legacy. .He also seems to be in charge of a unit of implementation. The young irishman case in point.Imagine what he could do with Miller. His record shows a cyclical pattern. He adapts and will again.

We would revel in either of the above scenarios and the icing would be in the knowledge our board has the capacity to outwit our greatest foe.

I have no idea who we should trade ,our coach has created an environment of inconsistancy providing it impossible to draw a line through the names of players.

I believe Malthouse or Buckley will atleast give us an indication of who deserves to stay and who deserves to go.

Hey - if you've never heard of me it coz i'm new. I say trade one of Jamar, Ferguson (though probably no one would want him) or Miller. Probs Jamar coz ruckman are a premium in some places (e.g. Carlton). Trade Warnock since we never play him. I wanna say delist Godfrey and Holland but at least they try. Must keep Davey because he has the potential to change games (just wish they played him as a crumbing forward). Don't think we should get rid of Dunn just yet - I see talent there.

My burning question: If a club actually did want any of the aforementioned players, who should Melbourne be looking for?

I agree, that's what I meant.

guyz like godfrey, ferguson, holland and ward have zero trade value.

last year ward, ferguson and others were offered for trade. nobody was interested.

the guyz who might have 3rd 4th round value include miller and jamar. if someone wants them for that price we should definitely take it, because otherwize they will just be delisted and we'll get nothing for them.

if we want to get a serious player into the club then guyz like davey, bruce or green have to put up for trade. people must get real. if u want quality you have to be willing to trade quality.

i also think we should looking at getting some better, younger depth players. i wouldnt be averse to getting a couple of fringe players from the top afl clubs who cant get a game this year.

i think i guy like Nicoski (WCE), Ryley Dunn (Freo), Ryan Murphy (Freo), Kane Tenace (geelong), Shannon Byrnes (geelong), Jaymie Graham (WCE) could be much better depth than our current list outside our best 22, plus they are young and can improve.

Bruce wouldn't have much trade value after getting towelled up by Daniel Jackson. DANIEL JACKSON FFS!!!!

Bruce 1st round. Pick 5-10. 50/50 Trade/Keep.

Davey Late first round. KEEP.

Green Early 2 round. 50/50 KEEP/Trade.

Jamar 4-5 round. Trade.

CJ Nothing. 50/50 KEEP/Delist.

TJ Mid to late 1st round. 50/50. Trade/Keep

Miller Nothing. 70/30. Delist/KEEP.

of those players if i could get a pick 5-10 for bruce i'd take it straight away. same for green. i'd even consider taking 5-14 for either of those two. perhaps a pick and a top up player who prob wont play but is gonna be better than pick 80 anyway...

for jamar i reckon we could get a late 2nd round or early 3rd. he is a ruck who can tap, if a team has a hole he is worth it if they cant afford to wait 5 years for a rookie development. id trade TJ for the same as bruce and green.

CJ and miller i see as trade bait, not as the main attraction but as added bonus. ie bruce plus miller to brisbane for pick 4. green and CJ to west coast from picks 16 and another player, or perhaps for picks 16 and 48.

they wont get much themselves but might drag out more in a trade.

fwiw we are going to have a high first rounder. i would be ecstatic if we could secure 2 more first round picks, even if its at the expense of bruce and TJ. i dont think we'll win the flag next year, and its a great way to rebuild. but only if we can get top 15 or 20 picks, and preferably higher picks.

fwiw i have tj's no. on my jumper, but if he's gotta go, he's gotta go.

Im still not convinced Carrol ( whilst better0 is still the real anser down back.. If an opportunity arose to utilise him in a trade...and we get a possibly better KPB as a reult of that or other trades Id let him go.

    BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin
