Turner and Petty as the 1 and 2 in the forward line is my preference. Give a trial for the next month. JVR had his chance and I reckon needs to have a solid month in the 2โ€™s.

Fritta is on thin ice too. Should have had 4-5 goals tonight.

Milkshake, probably gets rubbed out because itโ€™s MFC.

If petty is concussed he'll be out as well as melky.

Might be a turner/aj or turner/roo fwd line next week.

Fritsch will keep his spot especially if melky gets rubbed out

Jack Riewoldt doing his best to verbal a suspension for Melksham

I'm not saying this is actually the case but I swear it feels like it's always a Melbourne player that the media try to make an example of for a suspension. Melksham did an act that Riewoldt would've done hundreds of times in his career, he didn't shove him into a contest to hurt him, he tried to out body the guy.

I feel like people take Gawn for granted sometimes. I really don't think it's likely we're ever going to have a ruckman like him ever again.

It's crazy to think that he might have the same number of AA selections as Ablett Jnr and Buddy Franklin by the end of the year.

I'm obviously biased, but for me he's the GOAT. Cox barely did half the stuff Gawn does around the ground.

And the media madness continues.

I donโ€™t think he said a single word during the last quarter.

I've got no idea what we did to Jack Riewoldt but he absolutely hates us. The only thing I can think of he pretty much always played a stinker against us except for one game in 2017.

He's just a [censored]

Should also mention Daniel Turner. Iโ€™m not sure if he even counts as a young guy anymore and heโ€™s never going to be paid millions of dollars or get AA blazers, but a guy who play to a high level at either end of the ground AND KICK STRAIGHT is worth his weight in gold to this team, and any team going forward. Must be in the 23 for rest of the year.

I must say, I think May is near the end.

He's always panicked with frontal pressure and he's never been a good user, but he no longer really wins contests either.

It might be a big call, but I think if we're to get better this year, May will find himself on the fringe of the 22 by the end of 25.

It has to be said that making Viney a tagger has completely turned his form around. I feel like it took Goody too long to swing that move but now that he has done it Jack looks so much more like the player he is, it feeds on his competitive spirit and best of all Jack is good enough to hurt the player the other way if given the chance.

How good are Lindsay and Langford going, absolute Jets

Lindsay was quieter tonight but barely put a foot wrong.

Langford is a jet. That left boot of his is class.

Ashcroft aside, both are real chances for the Rising Star this year.

Think itโ€™s just the same thing with every footy personality or whatever you want to call themโ€”weโ€™re an easy target.

Relatively small club which means they wonโ€™t cop any major pushback like they would if they went after a big 4 club but still famous enough that people will pay attention to stories about us. Stereotype of rich/posh supporters and not considered a loveable โ€œsecond teamโ€ so nobody else wants to defend us like they might with St Kilda or Footscray.

May definitely looks to be reaching his cliff, I think it's important that we start to think of the next phase with him and whether that is him taking the number one defender. I like Petty and Disco as swing men, but I actually want them to both be defenders first with the swing there if needed. Ironically Petty seems to play better if he starts as a defender.

I disagree. The modern game suits him perfectly.

He is ultra athletic for a tall lad. Beautiful kick and mark. He has every opportunity to become a high value player. Just needs the experience and belief.

I really have high hopes for him.

It would be so Michael Christian for him to give Melk a one weeks suspension, I have no faith in him making the right call.

This is how I felt tonight. I think we just really need to cherish every game we see him in from now until boot hang up time. This is something seriously special.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... itโ€™s time to discuss this weekโ€™s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliverโ€™s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line โ€ฆ Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the clubโ€™s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the clubโ€™s perspective, and the teamโ€™s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarksonโ€™s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed โ€” roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.ย  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
