Margin Over Tigers.

Now we are in form I would be interested in opinions of how much we should beat the RFC by in our next game. If Neita plays and there are no major team changes I reckon an 8-10 goal win is a must. We have the ability to start putting even greater pressure on every team we play now. Players will realise that they will get a game only if they do "their allotted job" on any given day. I also think that we will more often change selection patterns to suit the particular team that we are up against. Our midfield will start to dominate weaker teams and our flexible forward line will flumox all but the very best team's defenders. Now we also have 2 ruckmen in form that can give futher foward line pressure. 48--60 points should be the margin.

Honestly..

with Brock back in vintage form

Pickett, Whelan and Yze to possibly return

The emergence of PJ as a legit ruckman

The fact confidence is high

Sylvia getting better every game, and threatening to boot 8

Robbo back to his best

Backline -Carroll,Bell,Wheatley, Holland - all on fire

Melbourne 24.17 161

Richmond 11.13 79

Goals - Robertson 6, Neitz Davey Sylvia 3, McLean Bate Bruce 2, Jones P.Johnson Pickett

Best - McLean, Bate, Robertson, Bell, Sylvia, Green, Pickett, McDonald

McLean - 34 disposals, 7 tackles, 2 goals

Bate - 23 disposals, 12 marks, 2 goals

Robertson - 17 disposals, 10 marks, 6 goals 3 behinds

Bell - 26 disposals, 6 tackles, numerous spoils

Sylvia - 20 disposals, 8 marks, 3 goals 2 behinds, 7 tacklers

think this is a bit ambitious still waiting, considering we are yet to really have four solid quarters and richmond have come very close the last couple of outings. I reckon this is a bit danger game and we'll have to be right on. Unlikely too that the tigers will let us clear our defensive line as easily as the pies did adn they will try and clog us up, so might stiffle our running game a bit. The match last year was ugly.

Im gonna say by 22.

i agree the tigers have been doing well in most of their matches

will they have symmonds back?

simmonds newman and brown could be back for the clash

The tigers have been competitive in most games. I wouldn't be getting too cocky.

Yup. But YM has a point. If were gonna beat em, lets bury em!!

Many contiually wrote of us as an enigma.. a top eight team languishing at the bottom without real merit, awaiting the new day to return to form. Gradually we are finding some of that ilk in order to win. Richmond have yet to do that and yet have still managed to niggle a few teams with surprise and indeed looked almost about to break through .

Dont diss the Tiges with the same contempt the masses afforded us. I fully expect Wallace to dig into his back of unconventional tricks in order to combat our favourite style of game: a flowing hard running style. If he manages to drag this down to a scrappy tussle I will be happy to walk away with a One point win. If he cant force us wide he is in for one harrowing afternoon.

Its going to be a very interesting game really, a more insightful look at where we really are than many will give kudos.

Even when we're flying when do we ever win by 8 - 10 goals?

l agree it takes more then to wins to make a great team.

tj out of this game

neitz bad leg

robbo had a great game but can he back it up

but yes l agree we can win

Hmmmm!

I seem to remember a thread like this last year and we lost. Can't remember which game but I think it might have been the second Carlton game.

Definitely don't like this sort of thread.

This sort of topic is completely moronic

we're 2-9 and were talking about winning margins over a team who are only 1 1/2 wins behind us and have arguably been in more winning positions than us.

get a grip. 1 pt or 99 points, who cares, when wins are as rare as they have been all season you take any.

talk about getting ahead of ourselves...

In recent times when we play the tiges they have been in good form, coming off a couple of wins and look like they could make it to the finals. I always get a bit scared and think it could be a danger match, but then we come out hard and they never look like getting anywhere near a win. This year will be the same. they still dont have enough good players. and theyre young guns arent anywhere good enough yet.

Richo could fire up. thats my only concern. When he is on he is really ON. However we always seem to have the wood over him and i will be grinning my head off when buckets takes another scalp and richo chucks a dummy spit.

They look like getting Simmonds and Brown back.

Browns form in the Vfl hasn't been as good that good, and he will more than likely to be very underdone.

I hate these threads

The Melbourne Football Club has shown over time that they have a complete inability to dispose of bottom sides. Its embedded in their culture. Whenever their expected to win, they fall flat on their asses.

Recent examples:

Round 2 2007 V Hawthorn

Round 1 2007 V St.Kilda

Round 18 2006 V Carlton

Round 1 2006 V Carlton

Round 8 2005 V Hawthorn

Round 6 2005 V Fremantle

Too true BBP. They repeatedly switch off under these circumstances, turning what should be a pedestrian 4 points into something of a danger game. Premiership sides don't do this.

im actually with YZE-magic on this one . We are gunna tear the tigers a new one. Dees 35-0-210 tigers 3-3- 21

Robbo to kick 23 straight and start a late season campaign to become the first demon to kick 100 in a year? :o:lol:

The season is over, so we may aswell have some fun, Dees by 112, Bater will kick 9

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
