The way we are playing, I can't see us beating anyone. Maybe Tigers or WC

Essendon will easily run over us in the second half after we try for an hour

Have to agree re the forward coaching but IMO it is mainly our delivery. Even Fritta had 3 opportunities to lower eyes and give off a little kick or hand pass to players on their own and goals would have happened. Once he had 3 players spare including Kozzy and just had an angled shot and of course missed. This is what is needed the most. Our mid coaches and Goody must insist they look for spares when entering or in the forward line. Forwards need to keep on the move.

Wouldn't hurt to ask J. Brown to come down a couple of times and work with JVR and Turner.

Speaking of Fritta .. my b-i-l attended game. ( he's a filth ). His sms to me....

"Mate what l saw in the last qtr OMG Fritsch is a front running cat! To attempts at Goal 1 set shot point! the other he could have give his team mate a Joe the goose! Nup kicked snap under pressure and missed! Both times Cats cleared an got goals and that gives them a chance their forwards have no structure and the ball just gets bombed in"

Our forward "structure" is not a secret to anyone. There isn't one.

Essendon are no good and getting a lead will surely cause them jitters. We can absolutely win this game.

Have you watched us in the first 4 rounds?

Nup....in a word, too slow , needs some Casey time, along with Van Rooyen, Fritsch, Petty and Melksham!

Tigers will smell blood and beat us, that could spell the end for Goodwin if Essendon and Freo pants us as well. WE could also win the next 4 and be 4 - 4!

I have. We were in just as bad form last year and got it done against the Bombers.

I don't rate Essendon at all. Merrett is a freak, otherwise there isn't much in their team that i'm scared of.

Even the worst teams win games, usually 3 or 4.

If Lever comes back it gives us arguably our best team (on-paper) so far this year. May and Kozz with games under their belt, hopefully Windsor is better with some consistency too.

I understand that we look horrible but i'm not going into every game thinking it's an automatic loss, and the Bombers are a team i'd particularly highlight as opportunity for a win.

Must be looking at a different team to me last year..

This year, i now go into every game thinking its a loss and what miracles must occur to win on expected score. Actual winning - well that is just out of reach.

Might be time for Turner to go back again? Showed some promise there before his move forward.

[censored] you picket! You have a go at Petty, Spargo and Fritsch but if anyone has a go at your useless love child Clarry you want them banned. HYPOCRITE

Us West Coast, Tigers and Bombers are bottom 4 we can beat them but it wouldn't surprise me if we lost.

Half forward give him Neal-Bullen's old role.

interesting listening to on the couch about the need for elite HB’s. Can’t wait to see how McVee and Windsor go once they’ve had some time together.

Clarry has been out of form a lot longer than Viney.

Clarry is currently having more impact on games and actually had 3 less clangers than Viney on Friday but double the disposals!

Longmire. Hird. Buckley. Simpson.

Brad Green must be having a coffee with these blokes. Surely!!! If he’s not, then he is not doing his job.

Because Buckley and Hird have been so successful??

Is McVee back this week? If he and Lever are back and we can demote Petty or TMac our defence will both be stronger and have more run.

I heard that Lever was now the dreaded 4-6 weeks 🤬

Rubbish. He got smashed by Rowell and clangers are nothing they are direct turnovers to the opposition What about the disposals that go nowhere which aren't on the stats sheet. If you mean a negative impact on games I agree. Clarry should have been dropped last year I don't know how bad he has to play before he gets dropped probably won't be while Goodwin is coaching. He's been shocking for 2 years now enough is enough.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
