Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season.

Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact.

Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start.

Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.

Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors.

Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read.

The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions.

Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

On a train heading to the MCG, somehow making it in earlier than customary and can hopefully squeeze a pint or two in at the Corner Hotel.

My expectations are low, hate losing to the filth but will still show up for this one on the off chance ...[nervous tics commencing 😁] ...

Carn the Blues!

Hopefully tonight’s game is an injury feast with a few long term reports thrown in as well

Pure mayhem

Carlscum will be obliterated tonight…

Doubt it, but either way will be entertaining, as long as there is major injuries involved to both sides

I agree DL. For some reason it just seems like Carlton will win

Can't see their season being over at round 4

Afl have shafted us with the draw, our first game to attract a decent crowd is Anzac Eve.. 7 games into the season

What did you expect after last years Rubbish??

Great vision and handball to find Cripps there

My point is the draw for home games, GWS, GC , Essendon gather round, Freo a gate receipt paradise

The blues are not hanging around waiting for someone in a better position. They are just playing on and keeping the ball going.

Might run the old blokes off their legs. Might not as well

Definition of conflicted: Barrack for Pies so that Bkues go 0-4 and keep some of the spotlight of the Dees or Blues, coz it’s Collingwood.

You can tag but I’m pretty sure you can’t [censored] someone’s run at the ball. That’s what Pendlebury appears to be doing

Winners are grinners DS.

A 27% winning rate in the last 18 matches will do that to a club with a FIXture arrangement (hint...it's not a Draw)

Poor spectacle

Dark navy versus black and white.

How about we add white shorts to the navy blue?

Why do they have away jumpers??

That’s what we deserve

Do you want 80,000 to watch the current MFC standard?

Why are we forced to wear a clash guernsey but these teams don’t have to?

You can’t tell the difference between Carlton and Collingwood jumpers?

Carlton are the away side, wearing white trunks…

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
