According to ch. 7 Hinkley will be offered a gig at Hawthorn and will lure Butters across. By all accounts they are very close, Hinkley is like a dad to Zak.

Hinkley for head of strategy at the Demons perhaps

Big news dropping?

Watched til the first ad break and sounds like this is just an update on the coaching search.

Given Harley Reid extended, it might be worth reiterating that Jake Nial said yesterday they were aggressively pursuing him and lurking around the Petracca situation. Will the Hawks now shift their focus?

"Give it to Butters"

Nothing new. Trac had the exit interview, no trades were mentioned. But they talked about Hawks and a top 10 pick.

The storey was positioned around Hawks pursuit of a top midfielder. They had Butters, Merrett, Walsh and Trac. All others were kind of a no despite Butters and Walsh being pre agents. However when it came to Trac Toomey was all I think it’s time to break up this marriage.

I don’t care if Trac stays or goes, but why are our players spoken about this way…

It’s like there is an unspoken truth they we are mentally abusing our players and the media are doing their best to push the narrative publically be abuse there is a gag order in effect. I don’t understand why.

Trac turns 30 next year. History and science would say his best days are behind him but he should still have 2-3 properly good years left in him, and 4-5 years left total.

Twomey puts his worth at a pick 10-15. Let’s say that’s accurate. It will get pushed out 5 picks or so by the time free agent compo and bids come in. So let’s just be broad and say we would get a pick around 12-20.

Let’s take a look at some of our picks in that range in the Jason Taylor era.

Jake Bowey, Bailey Laurie, JVR, Matt Jefferson, Koltyn Tholstrup

How many of those guys would be worth trading Trac for? I count 1. An ageing, uninvested, inaccurate Christian Petracca is still better option than 80% of those guys listed.

Worth noting too that it’s a weak draft. Players of Linday’s caliber aren’t there at 11 every year.

Keep Trac. Draft picks are overrated. Glorified lottery tickets!

Cal didn’t say pick 10-15, he said top 10-15, meaning pick 1-10, or out to 15. Recently, when asked about Trac and the Hawks, he said a top 10 pick, and I’m pretty sure he referenced Carlton’s 1st, which they have.

If we could turn Petracca into a windhager + first rounder (as long that is more like a 10 than an 20) and get the cap relief I’d take it.

The irony that someone called ‘Nightmare Continues’ didn’t like this suggestion isn’t lost on me 😆

Any AFL trade gurus in here, able to make a list of the possible moves both inward and outward for us?

Would be really curious to see the options we have and possibilities.

What is the exact genesis of all this trade talk. I know there were issues off field with Clayton in the past but is this still evident? He seems pretty invested to me, he can’t be the only player in the afl who deals with issues that are common in the general population. Trac has stated, paraphrasing, he is all in for the Dees. Both have long term contracts with us which as the cap goes up won’t seem so over the top money wise. Why the speculation, they are both good, probably great players. From within it can’t be to improve the list because what we would get would not be enough to obtain top liners.

My name could be I❤️Windhager and I still wouldn’t like your suggestion. 😝

The thing is at the time of these long term contracts we thought we were signing players in the top 10 in the comp. Now they struggle to make the top 100

Better off taking a lesser pick for Petracca than paying him to play for another club. Cap space is more valuable than picks.

Stk spruiking they’re confident they can get Flanders too… could see GC trading him to us just to spite StK after Ross’ nepo baby comments. Id be up for that

Hinkley said in his presser that he is absolutely Cooked and needs some time off and that he Loves ❤️ Port Adelaide. I will take him at his word and discount any wheeling and dealing that would include him and if he loves Port he wouldn’t be trying to encourage Zac Butters out of the joint.

Flanders would be on considerable money for 26 and 27 (considering that Gold Coast have historically had to overpay to keep players.) If St Kilda gets him, then simply they can't afford Windhager and he goes. Lots to play out but I am interested which way this goes.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
