Adelaide is a footy mad state, without any real standout stars.

Trac instantly becomes THE STAR of SA if he goes there, and that suits the vibes. Especially if Butters heads home next year.

Nobody in Queensland cares about Trac. Hell they didn't move the needle on the scale of apathy when they got arguably the GOAT in Gary Ablett Jnr, so how does moving to the Gold Coast help further his off field career?

There is however a big TV and film industry in the GC.

Interesting to see where this lands

Speaking as a South Australian, I'm of the opinion he'll hate the absolute football fishbowl of Adelaide. The novelty will wear off very quickly. As for GC, he's always holidaying in Noosa. Wherever he goes, I'm sure it will only be a 2-3 year plan and he'll end up back in Vic post-retirement.

You may well be correct. The grass is not always greener as they say.

So not long before Maloney left for Brisbane, then?

That's right.

But the coach at the time had a fair bit to do with that.

Club had a fair bit to do with McLean leaving too.

Paul Guerra made it pretty clear on the radio it'll take a pretty special deal to get Trac to another club, i don't think there is any chance we'll be accepting average picks or paying any of his salary. he said "it's still our strong preference Christian stays at Melbourne"

Funny how the overly parochial Adelaide media is feeding the whole narrative that Rachele is untouchable. It would be like having the Melbourne media full of Garry Lyon clones telling Adelaide to pay up!! It’s nonsense.

We’ve done a bit of background work on Rachele and ultimately, 9 times out of 10, if the player in question is happy to move and agrees to a contract with us, the other club will let him go.

It will be up to our list management team and leadership group to convince a player like Rachele to request a trade.

If Trac at 75% (which he was during 2025) was playing in the Adelaide midfield in September at the expense of Rachele; I’d expect the Crows to have been much more competitive.

Funnily enough, his fit with Gold Coast looks less than ideal which is why I think he favours a move to Adelaide. The Suns are stacked for mids but need to find more avenues to goal.

A bit of a wait and see regarding other clubs interest. Hawks lurking and Trac wouldn’t hate moving to Sydney.

Posturing.

It’s like negotiating with your kids! Stick your flag in the ground as far away from the resolution point as possible to start. See who blinks first.

He’s gone.

Yes.

Beamer should have known the future when he made this speech in 2010.

This is exactly what I want to hear. If he goes, so be it, but we must be adequately compensated.

Should asking the Crows about Sid Draper as part of the Petracca deal if he decides on the Crows. Has speed, endurance and good skills & fits the age bracket with Windsor, Tholstrup, Langford & Lindsay

Isn’t the whole point that we need players outside that bracket for a more balanced list?

The Crows have said they won't move heaven and earth to get him (surely thats an ego [censored] to him?). We are saying he's got 4 more years, we don't want anything less than a great deal for us. We have also claimed (whether you believe it or not) that we expect to be playing finals next year. That is really only possible if we enhance our best 22, not diminish it. Already losing McVee to Freo (ffs, why is it only ever them?!). If we are serious about that, then the Trac deal with Adelaide won't happen, because Adelaide won't want to give up a best 22 player and players won't want to leave when they feel close to a premiership. Hence, I see an impasse here given we have demanded a player in return.

The club copped a lot for long contracts to players. But now, see everyone else doing it? And it is for this exact reason: unless you allow it, you'll never get pushed off the ball during trade times. It's not playing hardball, it's just playing by the rules. The media doesn't like it because they need twists and changes to be able to write trashy articles.

I'm not personally happy that he's wanting to jump (a sinking) ship despite all the demands he made at the end of last year. But, I do get it too. Just doesn't sit well with me. That is more a feeling I have with the AFL landscape generally. It's a 'I'm 100% committed...until it no longer suits me" sort of attitude.

Lastly, people saying it'd be good to get his contract off the books...I don't wholly agree. We will quickly find ourselves in the Norf 'warchest' category where we have all this salary cap but noone wanting to jump ship to play for an unsuccessful club!

I'm from SA, and they will treat him like a God, I can guarantee it. He'll be on every media platform here. It'll be sickening. But if he doesn't perform, they'll turn quick.

Adelaide supporters on Twitter getting VERY worked up by a ‘vic-centric’ narrative on his value.

I suppose the Crom don’t really know anymore what a premiership player looks like, let alone a norm smith medalist so I understand their inability to appropriately value Christian.

OK so the ceo has confirmed trac told the club last week he wants to go.

I'm more OK with him going this year than last year.

But just a message to clubs, you won't be getting the 21 trac, you'll be getting a player who's kicking isn't great & he can't hit a target with a handball.

But goodluck to him, he was huge in our premiership.

I think you’ll find that Adelaide has standout stars, there were three in the AA team. Dawson and Thilthorpe are outright guns and would walk into any team in the AFL.

Fair enough that club wants established players to be part of any trade, but realistically it's not going to happen. No way we will convince any competitive person to come and spend their best years toiling with this group. The St Kilda debacle put a full stop on any thought of this group having a chance of making any noise down the track.

I'm firmly of the belief we need high picks and try to turn the list over for a rise in 4 to 5 years. As a smaller club, like the other smaller clubs our shot is to sneak a flag when our young guns are in their low to mid 20s, before they start looking elsewhere. Maybe this could change one day if we manage to draft some players with the ability to change our player culture...but we haven't managed to do that for many years.

People will be annoyed with Petracca, but his departure (providing the club hold very firm on the asking price) is going to be very good for us in a number of ways.

You know very well what I mean by standout stars.

I'm not talking on the field, I am talking off it.

This is about marketability. Jordan Dawson probably has 6 Instagram followers*

Victoria has a lot of competition in this space... think N Daicos, think Smith, think Bont, Curnow... the list goes on.

*I did not check his Insta followers, it might be like 900 to be fair

It’s sure gonna hurt to see Tracc in a different jumper.

35,000

about 150,000 less than trac's actual handle and 500,000 less than ontrac5

It’s easier to forgive Maynard than Petracca.

So less than the membership numbers of the AFC.

Yeah he's a non issue in this space.
