...  And they did bulk running at the end of training.  Not ideal for a game at 10 tomorrow morning.

This was:

Trac, May, Langdon, Gawn, Salem, Spargo, Viney.

Better time than 10am on a Friday morning during school time like Sydney v GWS TODAY.

Do they seriously get funds for growing the game in NSW?

The DA props-maker (and one of our triumvirate of leaders) has already got a great idea for a handheld banner. She’s running with it already. Now to convince the entire playing group 🤔

I vote for  - & Co

Oliver, Petracca & Co

Not my idea, can't remember who thought of it.

Probably ends up Anco

"Bison" is Mitch Marsh.  Langford deserves a nickname of his own.

With a name like ‘Harvey’, I’d suggest ‘Rabbit’ as a nickname.

It’d better be! I’ve told him I’d make it happen. But then I told him I’d find him a girlfriend (it’s a long story) and that hasn’t happened so he must know I’m full of empty promises 😅

edit: I’ve just messaged this nickname info to the DA powers that be, including asking how we can make this happen. Now I await their reply which will likely be along the lines of GW- stop making promises for us to follow through on. 🙃

Could always use a megaphone 📣 and start shouting things like, "kick it to Bison", "nice kick, Bison" and initially you will see confusion amongst the team, especially Bison, but persist, and especially get excited when he puts it through the big sticks, "nice goal, Bison!" Doing it in a positive reinforcement way will make the name stick. I also want this filmed for the socials.

Love to hear it. No point risking the guys said who are missing out against North in that weather. Save em. Protect the older bodies/ guys with injury clouds.

No doubt the majority if not all will be on the plane to play freo next week as well👍🏼

I would like to see the player management like the Cats did in 2022. They did a superb job of it that year in particular with their 'older' players.

A confused Bison can’t be a good thing.

But thanks for the suggestions, especially the megaphone. However, we had to apply to the AFL for permission to use a drum, I just can’t see them signing off on a megaphone.

Tough nut, that one. Hurt many an opposition player ...

Leb’s Big Toe Update…

He can now bend it!!! 🥳

I gleaned that. 😄 Maybe 5 or 10 years ago someone wrote an article (in a newspaper I think) suggesting that AFL teams should go out of their way to find attractive local ladies to win the hearts of interstate recruits and thus stop them wanting to return home. Sure, love doesn't work as smoothly as that, and Harvey is local anyway. But it was an interesting and amusing idea (and probably sometimes these interstate romances happen anyway.)

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #42 Aidan Johnson

The VFL premiership player was recruited from Werribee to alleviate Melbourne’s forward line woes and give a chop out in the ruck, but he managed only five senior matches in his first season at the club. At times, he was a dominant force at VFL level.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #44 Luker Kentfield

An exciting young key forward, Kentfield was selected in the 2024 mid-season draft but has yet to make his AFL debut. He was sidelined by a severe bout of pneumonia over the summer, which consequently limited his pre-season. Upon his return a month into the season, he commenced in defence but ultimately impressed with his progress at Casey, particularly in the latter part of the season as a strong marking goal kicking forward.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.
