Apart from our two long termers and poor old Marty Hore who is stuck on 3 - 4 weeks, we could have a full list this week*

Injury List: Round 11

Jack Viney  — concussion / Test

Marty Hore — calf / 3 - 4 weeks

Shane McAdam — Achilles / next season

Andy Moniz-Wakefield — knee / next season

* barring one or two mystery injuries of the week and possibly a couple who will have to sit out as carry overs for Sunday.

Looking good:

Marty Hore Calf 3-4 weeks

Shane McAdam Achilles Season

Andy Moniz-Wakefield Knee Season

Jack Viney Concussion Test

Viney will play this week, get the next 2 wins and KB will be massive, we will still be underdogs which seems to be when we play our best.

We should all give credit our medical and performance teams which I know might be tough for some. As Viney comes off the list this week, we have the smallest injury list in the AFL.

Idk if there’s any truth to this but I’m hearing Spargs has done his scapula and is looking at 8 weeks 😢

He did grimace a little whiles before his whack by Mills. That HIT wouldn't have helped at all.

Get well Spargypants 👍

Injury List: Round 12

Jack Viney  — concussion / Test

Marty Hore — calf / 1 - 2 weeks

Charlie Spargo — scapula / 4 - 6 weeks

Shane McAdam — Achilles / next season

Andy Moniz-Wakefield — knee / next season

My Essendon supporting mate (don’t judge we’ve been friends for 25 years!) is ripping his hair out at their injury list. They have not one tall left.

Okay so by AFL rules, Mills gets 6 weeks then i assume???

Scapula yes, but club saying 4-6. Injured in the incident before the Mills hit.

Viney likely but not confirmed.

All good. I posted the quoted comment at 8am, at which time we knew he’d injured his scapula, we just didn’t know to what degree and it turns out it’s a fracture that isn’t as bad as suspected.

The damage was already done before the Mills incident. Charles himself has said this. But I’m sure the Mills collision didn’t help at all.

With four mid-season draft picks, I'd be shocked if they didn't pick up Tomlinson, he can play straight away.

Fractured scapula sounds a really unusual injury - if it is to the body of the scapula (the flat bit) I think management would be symptomatic.

If it involved the shoulder joint it would be more problematic, and if to the pointy bit at the top, the acromion, I suspect it would be described as such.

In terms of our modest injury list, huge props to Peter, the club’s head physio. Selwyn along with Jacob (the club doctor) attribute this to him.

Pete’s a very professional, no-nonsense type of guy. He’s quiet and unassuming and remains in the background mostly, but he’s clearly doing a fantastic job because luck isn’t the only factor in being able to field our best players.

Onya Pete!

Injury and Suspension List: Round 13

Jack Viney  — hand / TBC

Injury Report | Viney in the Frame

Jack Viney is a chance to take on the Power.

Sestan’s absence this weekend explained - a minor hammy.

Viney “a chance”. Doesn’t sound promising tbh.

Injury and Suspension List:  Round 14

Aidan Johnson — suspended / 1 week

Jack Viney  — hand / Test

Oliver Sestan  — hamstring / Test

Charlie Spargo — scapula/ 3 - 4 weeks

Shane McAdam — Achilles / next season

Andy Moniz-Wakefield — knee / next season

In this clip Mitch Cleary says Viney still has to clear concussion protocols before we can pick him:

I don’t know if that’s because his progress got delayed by the hand injury but it’s concerning that he still hasn’t cleared protocols. It’s been 6 weeks.

Injury and Suspension List: Bye Round 15

Aidan Johnson — suspended / available
Oliver Sestan  — hamstring / Test
Charlie Spargo — scapula / 2 - 3 weeks
Shane McAdam — Achilles / next season
Andy Moniz-Wakefield — knee / next season

Bad luck to Ollie Sestan who was getting close to AFL selection before the hammy and a mystery ankle to AJ whilst serving his suspension.

Injury List: Round 16

Charlie Spargo — Scapula / 1 - 2 weeks

Oliver Sestan — hamstring / TBC

Aidan Johnson — ankle / 4 - 6 weeks

Shane McAdam — Achilles / season

Andy Moniz-Wakefield — knee / season

Yeh.. not very transparent from the club. Probably went under the knife as soon as he was suspended.

Marty Hore is gone for the season with a shoulder injury, love the fella, very unlucky but Jeeeez that has not gone to plan

“He hurt his shoulder at the start of the game. He was able to continue playing, but it kept getting sorer, which is why he didn’t finish. Follow-up scans have shown he’s ruptured his biceps tendon in the shoulder, and after consulting with a surgeon, it’s been recommended that we get it repaired.

“Unfortunately for Marty, we’re unlikely to see him again this season,” Griffith confirmed.

Unfortunately for Mary, we're unlikely to see him again. (you would think)

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
