as much as I'd like to see Port go out in straight sets I'm sick of hearing about the Hawks.

go port

I'd be wary of backing Port.

Don't forget they had six games determined by a goal or less this year.

Port won all six of them.

AFL need a serious look at umpire abuse by players. Wines gesturing and screaming in an umpire's face pleading for 50 was a really bad look.

Frees 7 to 2 for Port.

Knew it.

Paying a mark when they don’t touch it first doesn’t impact those numbers either. Very one sided

I didn’t think the Pap could come back after last week, but so far they are a different team

I think this is the most intensity i've ever seen Port play with

Let's not panic those who are supporting hawks.

Hawks have the ability from scoring a goal and then four more in quick time.

Yes pressure rating must be off the charts but the worry for Port is they are only 2 goals up. Not sure they can maintain this pressure for another 3 quarters.

What an interesting quarter!

For months this site has been full of posters complaining about our game style, saying it should be like Hawthorn -fast and attacking.

I don't know if PA can keep it up but so far they are absolutely stifling Hawthorn.

How? Contest and defence.

Good defence will NEVER be a bad game plan.

Will be very interesting to see if Port can sustain this pressure.

Awesome first Quarter

Port playing like men possessed

The fact that the same blokes served up last week after a decade of inconsistency mean Hinkley has to go.

How can Hinkley justify such polarising performances?

One limping in and the other exhausted from travel.

I doubt that a short flight to Adelaide followed a week later by a short flight to Sydney would be exhausting.

We’ll definitely know if one team is much fitter than the other. Players gonna be stuffed at 3/4 time if this continues

Let’s send those cocky glory hunting fake Hawthorn fans packing

How anyone wants them to win over Port baffles me. Sure i hate Port but it doesn’t compare

  • POSTGAME: Essendon

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
