This game has been scheduled for 11am on saturday morning. WTF

I would have brought the kids to Casey but that time clashes with their basketball games. I know finals are on but is this the best the AFL can do for a marquee match like this? braindead.

Maybe if it is early in the morning, @WalkingCivilWar will need less red bull?

...Nah, who am I kidding 😂

Uhm… do you even know how to Red Bull, DP? Clearly not. Lemme explain: the match start time doesn’t determine how many cans I drink, it’s the same number of cans, only I start drinking them earlier. Geez for a lawyer you’re not terribly bright, are you. 😝

So it looks like brekky cans at 6am. Gotta leave home at 7am to get to the ground by 10am. Another coupla travellers on the train, with the final can chugged just before the first bounce. Factor in probs three coffees and I’ll be bouncing around Casey ‘til at least quarter time. 😅

Our first home game for Season 9. Really hoping to get a good crowd despite the inconvenient time-slot. If you live in the area (or even if you don’t) please come along to watch some pretty bloody good footy. Bring the kidlets too. There’ll be fun activities set up and the relaxed vibe is perfect for them and if they get bored they can run around and burn off energy (works for me 😅). The kids also get to interact with the players after the match.

Come and support our Dees!!! ❤️💙

So at least we know the 2024 curse put on our club doesnt discriminate

Have some respect for the sport

11am kick off. is this under 12’s?

The Tayla Harris news is shocking. Huge loss. I hope she can recover fully and is raring to go come rd 1 next year.

would love to attend but have kids sport on Sat mornings

Only 2 games in melbourne for the whole season is madness

Meanwhile the MCG and Eithad aren’t being used at all

Do you mean only two games at Casey for the season? There’s actually three but yeah that’s not many.

Sorry, No I meant we play 2 games at IKON in Carlton.

Casey is pretty far out, I don't reckon they'll have much luck attracting your average MFC fan out there.

90 min drive or 2.5 hrs via public transport (from my gaff in inner north)

Yeah Ikon is so much better than Casey. Inner-city ground for starters, more than one 300-seat stand (which is for players’ families anyways), wind protection, decent food and drink outlets and the girls love playing there more than anywhere else.

Ruck goes out injured, in comes zippy small forward. Interesting selection

Loz has a broken scaphoid (a bone in the wrist). Idk how long she’ll be out of action but we’ll make do. ❤️💙

On my way up the road soon.

Age tipsters are 7-to-1 in favour of them. Oh, come ON!

That’s actually good TRAB. Less pressure on us as we smash ‘em into the middle of next week. 😁

Its a beautiful morning, perfect for footy, but I fear there won’t be many there. Along with Casey being too difficult for many people to get to (especially since the dreaded replacement buses are a thing today), Saturday morning is unofficially local sports time. Some of our DA regulars can’t make it because of kids’ basketball games etc.

Never mind. Those of us who are there will just have to be EXTRA LOUD!!! That’s never a problem for me 🤭

First kids basketball game done. Out in Resa. Nice facilities. Whoever said basketball is non contact has never seen under 10 girls from preston play. fights scratches etc. Proud of my girl, she don’t take no [censored]

The boy is up next. will keep you updated!

that surprises me. they were horrible last week.

whereas we were excellent last week. we brought the heat and pressure which was missing last year.

Harris and Pearce are big outs for us but i reckon we can cover for them

The Lions will be much better but we'll win a tight one.

majority of the season

massive blow

No HTB allowed against the Lions?

Lions too tall, connected, fast.

Can't change much of that. Need to find a way around it.

'Breeze' stronger than forecast. And all over the place.

Shocking free

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
