Yes defintely good game yesterday. long kicking stood out, will be interesting to see how he and Bizzell finish the rest of the year as they may on their last chance.

Thing is, Brown and Ward have been preferred as they do go in harder, in fact Brown appears so far harder, you would pick him always for a big game ahead of Wheatley.

I fear despite his athleticism, great kicking and good pace, he just does not have the mongrel to get the ball. I tend to think he is very soft at stop plays and not reliable enough. I hope he proves me wrong.

My guess is they will delist Bizzell and keep Wheatley as back up, don't know why but gut feel.

Can people at least understand Fagan's comments on Friday now.

Its called motivating by instilling confidence. What he did helped Wheats believe he can make a difference at this level and he did.

Full props to Wheats for making it happen but spare a thought to our FD for using the human pysche as a tool to lift a player and side.

i still think the comparisions between wheatly and ward/brown and warnock are meaningless.

wheatly should be played on a wing. final. he kicks long and likes playing outside. he will go in when its his turn but dont make him the ball winner and dont make him sit on a player down bnack. let him use the ball to our advantage, thats his strength, lets play to it.

one swallow doesnt make a summer...but does anyone wnat to change their mind about what a fit wheatly could do for us on the wing now? he played a fantastic game today...

Good to see him finally getting some of the ball. Needs to back it up...consistently.

So play Wheatley on the wing so he can play to his strengths..?

Bizz and Wheatley are in totally different boats btw. If you don't know why you think Bizz might go before Wheatley I'd suggest that it could be to do with the fact Wheatley is ~5 years younger.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
