Takes a real talent to go inside and be unbeatable from day 1. Even Jagga Smith cant run out 4 quarters of football right now

Ken Hinkley emphasised this on SEN yesterday. This was in regards to Carltons midfield woes.

Kenny pretty much said that to play as an inside midfielder, you have pretty much be ready to go straight away which i think he meant physically and maturity.

There was discussion around Jagga Smith that whilst he is playing as a starting on baller and racking up numbers, the influence on games isn’t there yet because how young and physically immature he is.

I think Langford will be a gun inside midfielder for us for a decade plus, but we have to remember he’s only in his second year and is still developing his tank and understanding of role

I actually think he’s a similar player to Callaghan, albeit not as quick but with (potentially) a stronger contested and fwd game, plus both have great running patterns and a beautiful left foot

If Langford could follow Callaghan’s trajectory we’ll be very well set

Appreciate the clarifications as to why he hasn't been in the middle much at all yet. I can understand the frustration from Dees supporters knowing we have a future A grade midfielder waiting in the wings (literally). The last few posts give some justification for why he's being left out for now so when he does eventually go in he'll be ready and confident.

As a side Lewis mentioned On the Couch that another reason he maybe hasn't played more midfield may be due to being very left foot dominant as in he he needs to develop his right side more. I can't imagine this would be a real reason as we have a few mids who are one side dominant (Windsor especially). But it might be more to do with the predictability he has at the moment sweeping to that left...

teaching him defensive running patterns i'd imagine, as well as discipline to perform a role on ongoing basis

if langford can become a left-footed version of bontempelli, we'll be ecstatic

Whether making it as a winger, or a midfielder, Langfords effectiveness in either - will always be his ability to kick goals. He could play as a key forward if we needed. However, we will need to find his role - be it winger or mid, and it will be at least 60% forward regardless.

Yeah I am not the least bit concerned about Harvey. He will be an A grader for us.

Harvey Langford is a natural footballer with great goal kicking instincts, that long pass to Fritta wasn’t to shabby either, needs to stay in the moment and keep building his tank, we all have high expectations for Harvey.

His first 2 games were pretty ordinary I thought but I was pleased to see him get involved on Sunday. Let's hope he can continue to build.
