You’d only take 2 x top 10 picks or no deal.

I think what we would want, and what other sides are prepared to pay may be too far apart

We will be paying I reckon maybe a third of his wage if he moves…

And why would we accept a trade if we don’t clear his entire salary off the book?

Why would we do it now. It was on 12 months ago. We’d struggle to get a first round pick for him now.

Maybe because it's no coincidence that soon as Petracca has raised issues with the club we now find ourselves that Clarry may be on the trade table..

If the right offer is there then do the trade.

Then keep him and back him in to get back to his best.

I have been of that view

If he leaves we will absolutely be paying part of his salary, that’s a given and one of the reasons we need 2 x top 10 picks for him

Being interested and being able to do a trade is not the same thing. Pies are very interested in Trac.

Yes very true.

Hmmm … I’d rather a fit and firing Oliver over Trac tbh.

If Oliver has done enough to prove his turned a new page, vs Tracs alleged rogue antics. Oliver everyday of the week.

How does Clarry feel about this? I doubt he would want to leave.
Two first rounders seems well under unless they’re firmly within the top 10.

If we trade Clarry we are admitting that we are rebuilding. Window will be firmly shut.

Picks received plus maybe another to get Harley?

Or we pick up 3 early players in the draft. Could really change the makeup of the side.

Let me say very clearly that the Dees are not shopping Clayton, but they have been asked if 2 first rounders would get it done, and I believe it wasn’t totally shut down / dismissed.

Thanks for the scoop @goodwindees

Any notion on what Clarry’s preference (as in go or stay) might be?

It makes sense from Adelaide’s pov to just have a crack and offer pick 4 and future first they have rankine Dawson Fogarty thilthorpe and a host of others in that similar age bracket to Oliver , they need a ball winner to go with their class. Pick 3 last yr was dursma who hasn’t done much this year

It would be the biggest mistake to trade Clarry in order to appease Trac, when we all know Trac won’t stop looking for a “brand management” move.

If we trade Clarry it’s because we have decided our window is shut and we are trying to capitalize on the high value players we have. Or because something amazing has fallen into our lap and we need the picks to make it happen.

I believe Clayton definitely wants to stay, and I believe he will. It’s just that clubs realise that Dees want to change the way they play, and they’re just probing to see what the situation is with Clayton & CP.

Let’s be clear, there’s many, many more discussions had than there are trades done.

Don’t mean to go all Karen on everyone’s @ss but does this not qualify as an unsubstantiated rumour? Or that’s not a thing anymore 🤷‍♀️

If we are looking to change then it’s not the worst idea. I don’t think we can continue to play JV, Trac and Oliver in the same team. JV is the player you’d keep for leadership and standards. The other 2 can get you 4-5 round picks over the next 2 years and bloody good ones too.

Clarry has put in a HUGE amount of work and has categorically bought into the club. His commitment to change, self-improvement and betterment is absolutely genuine.

Clarry has had a huge amount of resources expended on him, which has been seen as a mutual commitment from both club and player alike.

I can understand that players are regularly discussed, but I really hope this hasn’t (doesn’t) damage the relationship and trust that has improved tenfold, between Oliver and the club.

I'm not sure of the exact wording, but I think an unsubstantiated trade rumours are different than an unsubstantiated rumour about personal health, illegal behviour, or other type of statement that could be considered libel.
