Well Nicko, Neil thinks I’m deranged (to be fair, I kinda am) but when it comes to non-adults, I’m totally harmless and even quite stable. 🙃

You know what @WalkingCivilWar … with all the commentary on DL over the last few weeks, all that matters to me is that my daughters have a great time with you and everyone else in the cheer squad tomorrow … a win would be a massive bonus ❤️💙

With the selection of only Bowey,  to replace Oliver. And no other additions to booster the forwards or ruck.

Can I suggest that Goodness will either be a saviour and genius.  Or . A pariah who has no idea.

depending on whether we win  or loose by a lot.

i will be watching whatever. Good luck Nibbler.

Your daughters will have a great time, win or lose. And I hope they like Haribo gummy bears and Pascall jubes because 6 and a half kilos of my 7kg carry-on comprises lollies. They’ll still be pinging off the walls on Sunday night 😂

Perhaps  Praps not.  Will be am interesting side light to the way the game goes and is played.  Only adding Bowey almost says everything is fine in our garden and we cannot get much better.

personally I think there have been a couple of games where we were anything but  as good as we can be,

Think AnB will have a couple of standout games,

Bowey doesn't replace Oliver. But he does move into the backline and allow both Judd and Rivers midfield time.

The Bangalow pub is very Melbourne-esque. Like an inner Melbourne pub. Even has Aussie rules on the teles

Very surprised it's just the one change. Bowey for Oliver.

If true, there must be no niggles what-so-ever. No one with the exception of Oliver to be heading into surgery post season for any correction procedures. A clean bill of health for this Sundays starting 23 I take it!

No Brown, No Jefferson, No Fullarton, No Sestan, No Kentfield - no games for any of these players in a dead rubber game that could provide the player valuable experience before a full on pre-season where they could be motivated to get back to seniors in 2025 having had a taste. Hmmm.

I'm not into "gifting" players games either, but I'd prefer the option to play one or 2 with 2 dead rubber games remaining.

You answered your own rhetorical question.

None of those players have been picked because none of them have demanded selection at Casey, and we're not going to gift them games for the sake of it.

One sure fire way to damage your playing group culture is to play players who don't deserve it.

Flat as a tack tonight.

If we are going to go down tomorrow, I would appreciate seeing us going down with a great deal of physicality and fight.

And just to top it off, JJ getting interviewed tonight after Sydney pelted the Bombers, has forced me to drink.

Not entirely... If we lose to GC and the Saints win they could jump us on the ladder and we could potentially land Pick 5 in the Draft! So we absolutely need to keep playing average football.

Careful Tom Morris lurks here, will use this post as ‘reports’ of tanking discussions overheard within the four walls of MFC’ FD offices.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
